Rare Reef by Afnan is a creation from the aromatic fruity olfactive family, designed for men and women. This new fragrance, launched in 2025, has been composed by perfumer Lucas Sieuzac. Its olfactive structure unfolds with top notes of orange, citron, mint, grapefruit, blackcurrant and coriander; a floral and herbaceous heart formed by myrtle, violet leaves, basil and rose; and a woody and sweet base that combines fig, ambrette musk, Amberwood and dates.

  • Hello everyone, this is my first review. I’ve been here for a short while, but I have an extensive collection and wanted to share my opinion without overwhelming you with olfactory jargon. I’ll be clear and concise: Rare Reef opens spectacularly, the bitter apple is noticeable, and it’s very similar to Pacific Chill (just in the opening). As it dries down, I don’t smell soapy, violet, or basil, perhaps a very diffused hint of rose. What does catch attention is a scent reminiscent of Megamare (incomprehensible, as they don’t share notes), which I compare to that metallic smell of freshly picked sea shells on the beach, hence the mother-of-pearl of the bottle. If you don’t like Megamare, forget this one. The opening lasts a short while, the citrus vanishes in under 5 minutes. It doesn’t have a wide trail, but it’s noticeable from time to time. Longevity is the best part (if you like Megamare), the extrait accompanies you all day. For me, it was a disappointment as it wasn’t like Pacific Chill, but if you’re looking for something metallic with marine touches, it’s good and long-lasting.

I’ve tried several fruity fragrances this year, but Rare Reef stands out. The first spray reminds me of LV’s Pacific Chill, but with its own twist: more fruity, with a green edge and freshness, plus an extra touch of masculinity. Honestly, I prefer it to the original; it feels brighter and more modern. It also has a Mediterranean air: sun-ripened figs, orange groves and basil that evoke a coastal afternoon in Spain. Despite being a summer scent, the blend of sharp citrus, herbs and a warm base of woods and amber gives it depth, making it wearable almost year-round when you want something clean and revitalising. The performance is solid: between 7 and 9 hours of longevity, moderate to intense trail and good initial projection (thanks to its Extrait de Parfum concentration). The best part is that you get this quality at a very affordable price: you don’t need to splash out to smell this good.

I’ve tried several fruity fragrances this year, but RareReef takes the crown. At first, it smells like LV’s PacificChill, but with its own twist: much fruitier, with a green, fresh edge and an extra touch of masculinity. Honestly, I prefer it to the original; it feels brighter and more modern. Plus, it has that Mediterranean vibe I love so much: sun-ripened figs, orange groves, and basil, like a coastal afternoon in Spain. Despite being a summer scent, the blend of citrus, herbs, and a warm base of woods and amber gives it enough depth to wear almost year-round when you want something clean and revitalising. The longevity is solid: between 7 and 9 hours, with moderate to intense trail and good projection at the start (thanks to its Extrait concentration). And the best part: quality at a very fair price. You don’t need to spend a fortune to smell this good.

With samples of Torino 21, Pacific Chill, and Rare Reef in hand, I see it as a middle link between them, with a greater tendency towards citrus and more similar to Torino 21. As I said, it has too many citrus notes and lacks the fruity elements to get close to Pacific Chill. However, it is delicious and has great quality. If you like that citrus/herbal DNA, it’s a 100% safe blind buy. Worth every penny.

  • Hello everyone, this is my first review. I’ve been at this for a short while but have a large collection and wanted to share my thoughts without confusing anyone with complex explanations. Rare Reef’s opening is spectacular: bitter citrus and very similar to Pacific Chill (just at the start). Once it dries down, I don’t smell cheap, violet or basil, perhaps a faint hint of rose. What really catches the attention is a scent reminiscent of Megamare; inexplicably, it smells of metal with freshly picked seashells from the beach, which I suppose explains the mother-of-pearl pieces in the bottle. It smells exactly like that, so if you don’t like Megamare, look elsewhere. The opening is short-lived, the citrus vanishes in under five minutes. It doesn’t have much trail but is noticeable from time to time. Longevity is the best part (if you like Megamare). The extract drydown accompanies you all day. For me, it was a disappointment regarding the drydown and because I was looking for something like Pacific Chill. If you enjoy a metallic scent with marine notes, it is good and long-lasting. But if you are seeking a dupe for Pacific Chill, forget it.

  • Don’t overthink it… its opening is spectacular, a refreshing and bubbly vibe like a grapefruit and lemon soda with sweet blood orange and a little mint. You get a bit of spicy ginger and durian for the first 10 minutes, then it disappears. The base is very light on wood, at the bottom, and suddenly a green leaf peeks out. Sometimes it’s masculine, sometimes unisex, but it doesn’t cross into feminine territory. For me, it’s a great inspiration for Light Blue Forever, better than Daring Blue. Definitely for warm weather, hot nights, or the beach.

  • The opening is spectacular, refreshing like a grapefruit and lemon soda with sweet blood orange, a hint of mint and spicy ginger. You can detect the peach for the first ten minutes before it fades, leaving a very light woody base and a touch of green leaf. Sometimes masculine, sometimes unisex, but never veers into feminine territory. A great inspiration for Light Blue Forever, better than Daring Blue. Ideal for warm weather, hot nights or the beach.

  • I’ll be clear: don’t buy blindly and it doesn’t smell very good; it’s the most hyped by reviewers who get paid. It’s a citrus and bitter bomb, nothing sweet. Does it last? Yes. Does it project? Yes. But if it doesn’t smell good, what’s the point. Wear it only on the beach during the day in summer, never on a date. It’s not attractive. To each their own scent.

  • I’ll be clear and honest: it’s not a blind buy, and secondly, it doesn’t smell anything good; it’s the most hyped fragrance by reviewers, they get paid by the brands, it’s pure advertising. It’s a bitter citrus bomb, forget the fruits or sweetness… it’s citrus, bitter, dry. Does it last? Yes, a lot. Does it project? Yes. But I don’t care, if it doesn’t smell good, what does it matter? Uses? To go to the beach on a summer day at most, never for a special occasion or date, this scent isn’t attractive. It’s my opinion, to each their own.

Having tried samples of Torino 21, Pacific Chill and Rare Reef, I see this as a middle ground: more citrusy and closer to Torino 21. It has a bit too much citrus and lacks the fruitiness of Pacific Chill. Nevertheless, it is delicious and of high quality. If you enjoy that citrus/herbal DNA, this is a safe blind buy. Worth every penny.

  • Another typical gym scent, like almost all LV and their copies… Fresh, clean, and citrusy. Bad? No, but I prefer others. It lasts well, the trail not so much.

  • I agree with several people here: for a fragrance to be fresh, long-lasting, and projecting doesn’t mean it smells good. The opening is designed to hook the buyer, nothing that enchants or proposes something novel. It’s not memorable, nor the fragrance you’ll be remembered for in 20 years. If you have more than 10 perfumes, this will go to the back of the wardrobe. The problem is the dry down: after 45 minutes, there’s hardly any of the sparkling citrus from the opening left. Losing this is its death sentence. It smells plastic, medicinal, synthetic, something typical of Arabic fragrances that kills naturalness. Even if it’s fresh and long-lasting, it doesn’t smell good. It becomes suffocating after a while, repelling some of us, like the sensation mosquitoes feel with repellent. I ended up washing it off with water and soap. I reached a point where I hated it. If you want to smell like a doll’s plastic, this is yours. If you hate being asked what your perfume is called, this is yours. But mine won’t be.

  • I agree with several: being fresh, long-lasting, and projecting doesn’t mean it smells good. The opening is for selling; nothing novel or memorable. If you have more than 10 perfumes, this goes to the bottom of the wardrobe. The problem is the dry-down: after 45 minutes the citrus is gone and it smells like plastic, medicinal, and synthetic, like those Arab fragrances that kill naturalness. It’s overpowering and repels some, like the smell of mosquito repellent. In the end, I washed it off with water and soap. If you want to smell like plastic doll, it’s yours. But mine won’t be.

  • I’ve never smelled Pacific Chill, so I judged Rare Reef on its own. I bought a 3ml decant and the citrus opening and creamy vibe (from the fig) reminded me of a piña colada. It’s dense and, once the freshness faded, I hated it. I had to wash my hands after two hours, which shows it lasts a long time in dry weather (25 degrees). This week at the beach with over 30 degrees and high humidity, I hesitated to bring it. At first, it made me feel sick and I put it away, but in the end, I took it. At the hotel, for going out to eat, it was my only option. Once outside with the wind, the experience changed: it smells like the beach, but not the shore; rather like the pool, the sunbeds, and the artificial fruit of a piña colada. I wouldn’t buy it for now; it’s very specific to humid heat and holiday complexes.

  • You can tell it isn’t the Pacific Chill from LV. The luxury remains the same and it smells great, but this one is cloying and has that typical Arab perfume stench that I hate. I don’t know when to wear it; it’s a disaster.

  • This bears very little resemblance to Pacific Chill; the LV one stays almost the same and is super pleasant, but this one is super cloying and has that stench of Arabic perfumes that I hate so much. I don’t know when to use this perfume, it’s super bad.
