9am Dive by Afnan is an aromatic aquatic fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2022, this composition is signed by perfumer Imran Fazlani. The top notes unfold a vibrant citrus accord with lemon, sour lime, mint, blackcurrant and pink pepper; the heart reveals a combination of apple, cedar and incense; while the base notes settle on ginger, sandalwood, patchouli and jasmine.

9am is a beast for summer, I love it. It projects for 1 to 2 hours but stays on the skin for 5 or 6 hours. It’s a very good fragrance and quite underrated, overshadowed by 9pm which surpasses it in many aspects depending on the occasion. I recommend 9am for hot days and 9pm for nights and parties.

When a perfume smells like soap: 9AM Dive. I arrived with high expectations because it’s from the 9AM and 9PM line, but the experience wasn’t what I expected. From the start, the opening is key. The sandalwood base holds everything up, with green apple, citrus, and mint on top. As it dries down, the evolution is clear: it smells like herbal soap. More than a perfume, it gives the sensation of expensive soap with herbal extracts, as if you’d just stepped out of the shower after a gym session. It’s not a bad smell, but it’s not for everyone. It has nothing to do with the usual comparison of mixing Bleu de Chanel and YSL Y, which many mention but doesn’t apply here. It doesn’t innovate at all; it recycles an olfactive profile we’ve seen in soap brands for years. It’s that same herbal aroma you recognise when walking through the supermarket past similar options. My advice? Don’t buy blindly. If you have a chance to try it first, do so. But if you’re looking for something different, better spend your money on another fragrance. Rating: 6.5/10.

  • The opening is brutal, with lots of mint, but as it dries down it matches Vaporrup with a touch of ginger that makes it too hot after a couple of hours. It doesn’t live up to its name; it’s ideal for going out at night in summer but not for all day. Longevity is moderate, about 4 solid hours, nothing beast-like. I liked the smell, but I didn’t expect it to be so overwhelming in the sun; however, for late afternoon and evening in spring or summer, it’s perfect.

9am Dive is the blue proposal from the 9 line by Afnan: citrusy, with mint, apple, and a woody base with incense that I love. It’s a hybrid between Bleu de Chanel and YSL Y EDT, let’s say 80% BDC and 20% YSL, although it reminds of many blue fragrances. If you already have one of those, don’t buy it, but if you’re looking for something fresh for heat and daytime, it’s an excellent option due to its low price compared to the originals. Longevity is moderate, about 5 to 6 hours, with acceptable projection; it’s not a beast mode, it stays in your bubble, very wearable and pleasant. At around $28, it’s a good purchase if you’re looking for something in the BDC line without spending $150. It doesn’t propose anything new, it’s what a blue fragrance should be: versatile, pleasant, fulfilling, and suitable for any context. If you want an aroma that garners compliments without being overpowering, go ahead, it’s all that. Best wishes.

A very citrusy, fresh, and clean fragrance. A bit flat and frankly not very novel. It’s like a blend of two or three well-known fragrances, albeit at a more convenient price. Excellent value for money with correct longevity. I agree it can be good for the gym or hot days. I can’t imagine a woman wearing it, so I find it strange that it’s listed as unisex here. Worth it if you don’t want to spend much, although don’t expect anything surprising.

  • I’m here to be a hater regarding the unjustified hype: it mixes two legendary DNA codes (Y from YSL and Bleu de Chanel) but only lasts half an hour, after which it smells like nothing. The longevity is abysmal. I’m not a fan of Bleu de Chanel, but as a hybrid, I prefer it to Iconic. Out of my 40 perfumes, it’s the one that lasts the least on skin, even compared to Pisa, Strong by New Brands, and Benetton. Sillage and longevity are terrible. The scent is bearable, but it doesn’t matter because it doesn’t last; you’d have to reapply every two hours. The good thing is it’s cheap, but for what it offers, Nautica Voyage is better. A gym perfume.

  • Zekrom0770

Freshness, cleanliness, elegance, and versatility summarise this fragrance. They say it’s similar to Bleu de Chanel; I’d say it’s in the same neighbourhood without being an inspiration or a dupe, it has its own personality. Personally, it surpasses it by a mile and at a price you can’t believe. I think it will be one of my favourites this year.

  • Paco_zul9

A lovely scent that doesn’t bother anyone. It lasts a maximum of 8 hours with about an hour and a half of projection. It’s not a beast, but it’s very good for work or daily wear.

  • Fresh scent with a citrus opening, discrete but solid projection for the first hour. As it dries down, the sweet and fruity notes emerge. After the second hour, it becomes woody and slightly powdery. It’s clearly identified as a blue fragrance, quite fresh. On skin, it lasts more than 5 hours, right up close (and that’s despite my lotions not usually lasting long on me). If you want it to last, apply generously, even on clothes. Anyway, it’s very good. It reminds me of 9PM and 9 PM Rebel in the sweet part, but being more moderate, it leans much more towards fresh and daytime.

  • Donfinolis

A good blue scent for everyday wear. It doesn’t last long nor project like a beast mode, but its great aroma makes up for it. Excellent for school, office, or the gym. Never buy it for over 500 pesos.

  • Gatoketchuprana

Fresh and fruity opening with aquatic and citrus notes. I detect a hint of mint and, although not listed, a subtle touch of pineapple that isn’t cloying. It evolves from fruity to something marine, fresh and mature. The longevity is more than acceptable for what it is; it lasts about an hour and a half with good projection before settling into your personal bubble with those marine notes. Apply 5 to 15 sprays depending on the wind, if you’re outdoors, or how long you need it to last. It never becomes overpowering. Ideal for men of any age. If you’re looking for something fresh, affordable, and perfect for summer, 9am Dive is a good option, but do compare all options according to your budget.

  • A manual blue fragrance, elegant, citrusy with a touch of wood and summery notes. Lasts around four hours with twelve sprays; for me, it’s a 6/10.

  • Pleasant, easy to understand, fruity and green with a hint of sweetness. It doesn’t feel artificial; I consider it good for daily wear, youthful and practical. Longevity and projection are moderate, lasting no more than 4 hours on skin in very hot weather. Fragrances like this are usually highly appreciated by ladies; they love them. I personally recommend it 8/10.

  • SygmaSergio

Do not expect anything like its night sibling 9PM; it is totally different in every way except the bottle. It’s fresh, woody, and ideal for summer and heat. The citrus notes, pepper/incense, and in my case a lot of jasmine are clearly noticeable. It leans more towards the masculine side; I wouldn’t see it for a woman. The longevity is nothing like its sibling; it fades more discreetly. I see it for everyday wear at work without wanting to make an impact, for the gym, occasional outings, and the beach. With about 15 sprays, you get 6-8 hours on skin that only you or someone giving you a hug will notice. The projection leaves a trail for the first two hours. For value for money, I give it 7/10. I would buy it again.

  • My first Arabic fragrance; it was my girlfriend’s favourite in summer. I bought it at 13 and, in my opinion, it’s easy to wear for any age. Up close, I detect a green vibe with minimal citrus notes, but from a distance it leaves a sweet, fruity trail that’s very pleasant. Both in its top and base notes, it’s easy to like and has garnered the most compliments from people of all ages. It’s not for parties or dates; it’s good for everyday wear, easy to like but not designed to captivate in the heat. Longevity is around 5 to 7 hours with moderate projection for about an hour and a half, after which it settles into its own bubble. It demands warmth; wearing it in the cold would be foolish. It’s good value for money, suitable for all ages and tastes. Edit: the bottle is fragile and breaks easily; it’s happened to me a couple of times, but luckily it hasn’t shattered. I don’t perceive it as a dupe; it merely borrows elements from the DNA of several summer fragrances.

  • It’s reliable given the price; it opens with that Bleu de Chanel DNA and evolves into the clean side of YSL. Projects well for 1 to 1.5 hours, leaving a nice trail. I recommend it blindly because it’s an easy fragrance to enjoy.

  • The formula for smelling good in the heat and that’s it. You can’t ask for more from a fragrance at such a low price. It’s not memorable not standout and doesn’t project an unusual image; you just smell rich and that’s it. It saves the day on many hot days when you don’t know what to wear. It’s a safe bet and as safe bets tend to be it’s as generic as possible.

  • A delicious blue fragrance for summer with a youthful touch that appeals to everyone. It’s perfect for hot days fresh and versatile. Its only weak point is performance: longevity and projection hover around 5-6 hours but even so it remains a very enjoyable and easy-to-wear scent.

  • No one can understand where they get the idea that it smells like a mix of Y and Bleu; the scent is a cheap citrus that reeks of furniture cleaner, it doesn’t last even an hour, perhaps it’s the batch, but I still expected more given the reviews and feel compelled to sell it as I don’t believe I’ve ever bought a worse fragrance.

  • In summary it’s rich but doesn’t last long. Personally I love the smell; it’s nothing extraordinary but I really like it. A couple of people aged between 22 and 50 have told me I smell good but only when they get close (less than a metre). I can’t describe it exactly; it’s mainly fruity and citrusy very much in the ‘blue fragrance’ style and I don’t feel it’s synthetic. Particularly with the heat it feels fresher and more mentholated. I don’t detect the incense which is a plus. It projects up to a metre and lasts 1.5 hours on skin and 4 on clothes; afterwards it lingers in bursts within 10-20 cm for another two hours. I must highlight that on clothes it lasts all day and if you sweat or get wet the scent projects again; in fact after showering the next day I still feel it. It’s nothing extraordinary but I like it immensely. Everyone I’ve asked finds it pleasant or rich. No one goes crazy over it but I’d say everyone enjoys it. It’s perfect for the office or university especially in the heat. For me it could be a good gift or a blind buy if the price is right; I got it for $35 but if I see it for under $30 I’ll buy it again without doubt.

  • Smells good and dry. The downside is its poor longevity and the worst part is its non-existent projection. It’s a pity because if it’s a staple for daily wear it would be an excellent perfume if it had more projection.

  • 9AM Dive has many virtues but falls short on performance. It’s fresh modern and citrusy with sweet apple notes; the scent is pleasant and clean. Ginger and mint add a lot of freshness making it excellent for the office although you’ll need to reapply to last all day. For me it’s one of my favourites for wearing after a shower before bed. It’s also a good option for the gym or sports.

  • andiufmanoel

Good fragrance used daily at the office and I find its performance acceptable given the price. The apple note is soft almost imperceptible and I don’t detect the blackcurrant. It’s the famous ‘smells clean’. I consider it a normal perfume very average. If you have a tight budget and want to choose a single fragrance for all-day wear this is the one.

  • tomasubiera

It should be noted that despite being youthful an older lady stopped me in the corridor and said it smelled great. Yes it suits any palate; it’s not overpowering or tiring although its Achilles’ heel is longevity. It would last longer and competes with the big leagues but this is resolved by using a decant or over-applying. It’s 100% aquatic and marine reminiscent of freshness and was my daily wear for a while. Will I return to it? I don’t know I’m trying other things. But at that price it’s the best. People love it and in the 🇩🇴 it’s perfect for the climate.

  • Smells fresh and that’s about it. I don’t find anything special about it but neither does it claim to be anything extraordinary. Like all Afnan perfumes: affordable fragrances for everyday use very pleasant for everyone. For me this lacks a bit of character; I’d prefer any other fresh scent.

  • Within the fresh and citrusy category this one leans more towards evening wear although initially it smells green and crisp. As the heart and base notes emerge it transforms into a sweet fruity blend perfect for a summer night.

  • Edgar250392

Bought it blindly expecting something aquatic salty or shower-gel-like but it turned out to be a fruity bottle dominated by green apple. It’s a love-hate relationship: it doesn’t last long but performs brilliantly; three colleagues even asked for it for their partners. Personally I couldn’t smell it even after 16 sprays throughout the day or two hours after application. It was pleasant but I wouldn’t buy it again; I’ll look for something similar with better longevity.

  • Fresh but sweet, with just the right amount of sweetness for spring or summer nights, not so much for daily wear. It seems identical to Natura K EDP and both last about 4 hours. It’s boring and linear; if you’re looking for these characteristics but without being generic, I recommend Lacoste Match Point.

  • Brianlara93_

I love the scent: it’s fresh and the mint gives it a comforting sweetness. I use 12-15 sprays and it lasts 6-7 hours on skin and over 12 on clothes. I get many compliments, I feel happy and it gives me more energy, changing my mood positively.

  • Exquisite. I’ve loved it since I bought it a year ago and it’s my favourite. In my hot city it works very well: aquatic, fresh, woody and spiced. What I smell most is the blackcurrant, mint, pink pepper and woods. It reminds me of mornings after a shower, ready to go to school, church or the office; also for running or sport. It automatically puts me in a good mood. I got it a year ago for around $50, I would have loved it at $25, but it was still worth it. The downside is the longevity, but you can carry a decant to reapply without hassle.

  • I gifted it to my father, who likes fresh scents, and it was the right choice. I bought a decant first and after a day confirmed it’s good. It’s not my favourite because the DNA resembles other fresh scents; although the mint is rich with a sweet touch, it doesn’t stand out for being different. For someone starting out and looking for something fresh, it’s a good option with good longevity, projection and price, but it’s not one of my favourites.

  • I’m glad some gave good reviews, but my experience isn’t good: it smells like nothing, like water, a scam. I’ll let it macerate for a few weeks to see if it improves, otherwise it’s going in the bin. I don’t want to take up space with something that serves me for nothing.

  • caquitablanca9am

Exquisite, with marine notes that make it very fresh and a lemon that isn’t overwhelming. It resembles YSL Eau Fraîche more than Bleu de Chanel, but for around $30 it should be one of the best Arab perfumes currently available.

  • Fresh for everyday wear, versatile and easy to like. It has a salty touch that gives it a summery vibe. Unfortunately, it didn’t seem the same to me as Bleu de Chanel. It’s good for gifting because it’s inoffensive and almost everyone will like it, but it resembles perfumes you already know, as if it lacks its own sparkle. I had high expectations and it didn’t win me over.

  • Exquisite and fresh with herbal notes, perfect for daily wear or special occasions. It’s very versatile and goes with any outfit. It lasts about 4 hours; it peaks in the first hour, so for the price it’s worth reapplying later. I’ve been complimented a couple of times, which gives me more confidence to wear it. Buy blind, mates.

  • The opening seems very synthetic, but after 15-20 minutes it changes drastically and becomes very pleasant. I wear it at school and with 5 sprays it lasts about 7 hours. It’s very passive; mixed with that synthetic opening, it gives my parents the creeps, but my friends haven’t had that reaction. I have little experience, but I hope this helps.

  • petrowski4

Fresh, woody and herbal, very masculine and potent for his style. It has great longevity and projection, but the scent is mature, nothing youthful. Costs around $30, and I recommend testing it before buying blindly. Ideal for night or cool days, though it can be overpowering in the heat.
