They say it first appeared in France in the early 30s, then in the US in the 40s, before Revlon reformulated it in the 60s under the same name. Upon application, the lemon and aldehydes hit hard at first, but then the herbal and spicy notes bloom. What truly dominates is the moss and musk; the neroli and mimosa blend beautifully in the dry-down without getting lost. The powdery and heliotrope notes add a touch of sweetness, with nothing acidic or metallic. It doesn’t sound quite as oriental as people claim, but rather a green floral chypre with spices, reminiscent of Nuit de Longchamp or Ma Griffe. This is the extrait, perhaps the 60s version, in a pale green hue rather than dark. It is exquisite, especially once it has settled on the skin.
