Damask, Taif, white, black and red roses all feature, creating a multifaceted opening. As the scent develops, saffron and honey lend a warm, spiced glow that softens the petals into something almost edible.
What makes Rose 1990 so interesting is its texture. The opening is dewy and fresh, then it quickly turns to a resinous, slightly leathery middle. The green olibanum sacra resin provides an almost balsamic lift, balancing the sweetness.
The heart is dominated by two roses: the full-bodied Damask and the more refined Taif. These are supported by a black rose note that brings a hint of smoked tea and a white rose that keeps the composition luminous.
Underneath, a well-blended oud sits comfortably with sandalwood and ambergris. The oud is not barnyard-like but rather suede-like, with a subtle animalic quality that appears late in the wearing. This animalic accent is tempered by a powdery, talc-like base.
