  1. Royal by Rasasi is a true old-school classic, that vintage barbershop scent that transports you back to the 80s. At first, it smells very much like Drakkar Noir, with a potent green woodiness that then softens to find its balance. It’s a traditional Chypre where oakmoss, cedar and lavender take centre stage, with the other notes playing a more subtle role. After an hour, it becomes quite earthy. Although it’s a dupe for Drakkar Noir, over time it also reminds me of Givenchy Gentleman. If it were for a woman, its equivalent would be Coco by Chanel – more elegant but with the same essence. I’d recommend it for anyone over 30 looking for something classic, masculine and sophisticated.
