Rue Oud by Hez Parfums: A Woody Oriental with Character

Hez Parfums has added a new scent to its collection: Rue Oud, launched in 2025 and created for both men and women. It sits within the woody oriental family, offering a fascinating balance between fruity sweetness and the dark, resinous pull of oud.

The fragrance opens on raspberry, cinnamon, apple and pear, before moving into a heart of Bourbon whisky, Bulgarian rose, Indonesian oud, tonka bean, vanilla, tobacco and oud wood. The base is built around Bourbon vanilla, sandalwood, white musk, ambergris, cedar and oud wood.

Rue Oud makes an immediate impression. The top notes are bright and almost jammy, with raspberry and pear softened by cinnamon. It feels welcoming, but there is a hint of something deeper waiting beneath.

The heart is a masterclass in contrast. Bourbon whisky introduces a boozy warmth, while Bulgarian rose lends an elegant, powdery floral edge. Indonesian oud brings its trademark earthiness, and together with tobacco and vanilla, it creates a rich, enveloping core.

Towards the dry-down, the scent softens into a creamy, ambered base. Bourbon vanilla and sandalwood feel smooth and comforting, while white musk adds a clean, gentle touch. Ambergris and cedar provide a subtle, lingering warmth.

What makes Rue Oud particularly appealing is its restraint. The oud is undoubtedly present, but it never overwhelms. Instead, it gives the composition a solid backbone, allowing the fruit, spices and florals to shine in turn.

With touches of fruit, wood, vanilla and a hint of spice, the result is an accessible yet sophisticated oriental. It feels at once modern and classic, a fragrance that can easily become a signature for those who enjoy a warm, characterful scent.

This will appeal to lovers of oud and spiced rose, as well as those who prefer orientals that are sweet without being sticky or overpowering. It suits anyone who values a distinctive, well-balanced composition.

Rue Oud is a refined addition to the 2025 market from Hez Parfums. It manages to be bold and comfortable at once, making it an excellent choice for both new and seasoned fragrance enthusiasts.
