  Wow! A very versatile unisex scent. Suitable for both day and night, summer and winter. Projects well and lasts around 4-5 hours. Molinard never disappoints.

  An interesting perfume from Molinard. I’ve wanted to explore this house for some time, and this summer I finally decided to request samples. I chose Patchouli, Lavande, and Santal Insolent. Of the three, the latter caught my attention the most, though I acknowledge good craftsmanship and quality in all of them. Santal Insolent opens with spicy notes from pepper and cardamomo, quickly revealing a woody aroma from the sandalwood and cedar that dominate throughout its entire life. To me, it doesn’t feel like an especially creamy sandalwood but rather dry, likely due to the papyrus note. It reminds me of freshly cut wood shavings. It is fairly linear in its dry-down, though it has subtle nuances, particularly at the start, which save it from being monolithic. Performance is excellent, with good longevity and a moderate sillage. It feels its best hours without being overwhelming. It is unisex and versatile; I see it as ideal for autumn, but it can work in any season by regulating the number of sprays. In short, a very good perfume whose main drawback is its lack of originality. It is a clear inspiration from Le Labo’s Santal 33, maintaining that characteristic DNA and making no attempt to distinguish itself or propose anything innovative. That said, considering its price and quality, it is a fantastic alternative to Santal 33 and a recommended try for lovers of woody scents.
