  • The highlight is that vigorous citrus opening, with a spectacular bergamot that is simply lovely. I wish it could linger there. It evolves rapidly into woody and incensey notes, ecclesiastical in style but set outdoors, like a mass in a citrus field. The combination of citrus with that enveloping smokiness creates a stunning elegance in the first half-hour. Then it turns into a fresh, readily available incense often found in more affordable perfumes. Its only drawback is that, while lasting around six hours, the projection is weak after thirty minutes. Worth trying if you enjoy this style.

  • The best aspect of this fragrance is its spectacular, vigorous citrus opening, featuring one of the finest bergamots I’ve ever smelled. Simply exquisite. I wish it could stay there forever. It evolves quickly into woody and incensey tones, something ecclesiastical yet outdoorsy, like a mass in a citrus grove. That blend of citrus with the enveloping smokiness delivers incredible elegance in the first half-hour. Afterwards, it becomes a fresh, common incense found in many cheaper perfumes. That’s its main flaw for me: it lasts about six hours, but the projection is scarce from the first thirty minutes. I recommend it to lovers of this type of fragrance.

Santo Incense by The Different Company is my first experience with the brand and quite interesting. You wouldn’t expect mixing traditional citrus and woods with incense to produce something so agreeable, and it is true. However, the citrus fades by the hour (as Ulito notes), leaving a good incense with musky and resinous nuances in the dry-down. It is unisex, with moderate to low performance on my skin, but its pleasant and versatile aroma makes it stand out. I recommend giving it a try, although you should apply it a bit more generously. Rating: 6.5/10

Santo Incense by The Different Company is my first encounter with the brand and a curious discovery. You wouldn’t expect combining classic citrus and woody notes with a touch of incense to yield something so good, and it certainly does. The issue is that the citrus fades within an hour (as Ulito mentions regarding the bergamot in his review), leaving behind a fine incense with musky and resinous undertones. It’s unisex, with moderate to low performance on my skin, but its pleasant and versatile scent is a strong point. I recommend it, though you need to apply it generously. Rating: 6.5/10
