Shaula from Nojoum: A Warm, Spicy Vanilla Oriental

Nojoum has released Shaula, a new fragrance that combines the sweetness of vanilla with a lively sprinkling of spices. Created by perfumer Maud Chevalier, it is made for both men and women.

The scent, which debuted in 2026, takes its name from a bright star, and it lives up to that celestial inspiration with a radiant, enveloping character.

The top notes are a cheerful blend of cinnamon, mandarin, and clove. At its heart, heliotrope, tobacco, and ginger lend a cosy, slightly smoky warmth, whilst the base features tonka bean, vanilla, and cedar.

The interplay between warm spicy accords and citrusy freshness is softened by a powdery, almost almond-like texture. Tonka bean and vanilla deliver a comforting sweetness, while cedar adds a drier, woody edge to prevent the composition from feeling too heavy.

Maud Chevalier has devised a scent that feels both luxurious and approachable. Shaula is best suited to autumn and winter, but its balanced nature means it can be worn during the day or for evening engagements.

Those with a penchant for sweet orientals and gentle spices will find much to like here. Cinnamon lovers and fans of powdery, heliotrope-like finishes are especially well catered for.

All in all, Shaula is a polished, inviting release from Nojoum that manages to feel both indulgent and tasteful.
