Silk Destiny by Novellista is a chypre floral fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2020, this olfactive composition was created by perfumer Marie Huguenot. In its opening, the fragrance unfolds notes of pear, tangerine orange and pink pepper; the heart reveals a harmony of rose, Egyptian jasmine and patchouli; while the base settles on amber, sandalwood and elemi resin.

Good heavens, what a dreadful thing. The bottle copies The One and the brand seems to be taking the worst gamble. It opens with poor-quality alcohol, then the roses are the most unpleasant I’ve ever tried: muffled, cooked, and spicy, with a hint of rotten lychee or old cucumber. The sickly blend is driven by a cheap, mouse-like musk. The heart smells of a beer burp and wet cardboard, absolutely dreadful. The dry down is cheap pear with flimsy resins. Compared to a Jo Malone for Zara or an YSL Blouse, this has nothing. For a hundred euros, I’d rather have a plate of prawns and a good glass of wine than this Silk Destiny Mordor.

It opens with an alcoholic, cheap note, then the roses are revolting—muffled, cooked, and spicy, mixed with something like rotten lychee or old cucumber. The heart smells of a beer burp and wet cardboard, absolutely dreadful. The dry down is cheap pear with flimsy resins. Compared to a Jo Malone for Zara or an YSL Blouse, this has nothing. The pear and pink pepper opening are delightful, very fresh. While it reminds me of Narciso Rodriguez For Her, here the Bulgarian rose feels more relaxed and sophisticated than in other scents, nothing heavy. The sandalwood base is refined and lasts for hours. Ideal for daytime indoors, it doesn’t overpower. For evening wear, only in summer, as in winter it loses its satin essence. It doesn’t smell like soap to me, but rather something subtle and romantic.
I really enjoyed the first use. The pear and pink pepper are a simple, pleasant touch. Although it recalls Narciso Rodriguez For Her, here the Bulgarian rose is softer and more harmonious, nothing heavy. The sandalwood base is fine and lasts for hours. Perfect for daytime in enclosed spaces, it doesn’t overwhelm and has good longevity. For evening wear, only in summer, because in winter that satin note disappears. It doesn’t smell like soap, but rather a subtle and romantic fragrance.
