My first review about a perfume I almost finished, I was given it a couple of years ago and I’ve used it sporadically. In its opening you notice the tangerine and pepper, and as it evolves, lavender and a certain cedar touch appear, but nothing excessive. In my opinion, it’s a fragrance that disappoints me a bit for the price; the 100ml is around 55-60 euros, but for me it performs like one costing 25-30. The fragrance itself is considered discreet, with little projection, about 30 minutes maximum at half a metre, then close to the skin, which seems ridiculous to me. I’ve been looking at perfumes to acquire, for example Aqva Marine, JPG Ultra Male, Versace Pour Homme, Eros, CH 212, and all of them, absolutely all, last more than double this fragrance. If your idea is a discreet perfume, it could be an option, although I think there are better things. Anyway, I barely give the fragrance a 5, I personally don’t recommend it, unless your girlfriend/wife loves it. Cheers.
A small disappointment. Pleasant fragrance when dry. Smells like a light tangerine, with a clean scent. Perhaps a bit of pepper. The base seems to try to reproduce a type of wood, but also very clean. No substance. Sawmill? How many rubbish things one has to read on these sites. Or perhaps it’s just different perceptions of chemistry. Poor performance, especially in trail. Longevity isn’t bad. As I said, it doesn’t smell bad. It’s pleasant, but little more. That said, it might be the best in the ‘Solo’ series, which I can’t stand.
Blakened and Joma: I agree with your observations. I tried it in a department store in Mexico and the truth is it smells very good, and the girls accompanying me loved it. It smells very natural and not synthetic at all. I also think it’s a very well-crafted fragrance and on my skin a couple of sprays lasted a good four hours, projecting well for two hours. Close to the skin it lasted up to eight hours. Everyone speaks from their experience and mine was very good. I hope to acquire it soon, because it’s quite expensive and you have to save a bit, but it’s worth it. Addendum: After some time, I’ve managed to get this gem. The tangerine dominates the opening, a rich aroma that smells of the fruit and its segments, whereas most smell of the peel. I didn’t perceive any lavender, but the pink pepper is very intense in the dry-down. Towards the end, a natural cedar wood aroma is noticeable. If you’re looking for a bomb, this isn’t it. If you’re looking for refinement and elegance, that’s what you’ll get from this Solo Loewe Cedro, which, along with my dear Armani Code, is the most refined in my incipient collection of about 20 perfumes. I recommend it widely (even as a blind buy), but given the opinions expressed, I think it would be better to try it first before buying because it’s not cheap.
It’s a good woody fragrance based on the original Solo Loewe. It’s fresh and elegant, but it has two problems: little trail and little longevity; you have to reapply several times a day. I have it and I like it, but I don’t think I’ll repeat it because in this style there are far superior fragrances that aren’t much more expensive, such as Terre d’Hermès.
One of my favourites. Very different from the original Solo Loewe. It’s much more youthful. The other one I don’t like. Very good longevity and trail.
After using it more, I must say I like it even more. I see reviews saying it doesn’t smell of cedar, are you sure you’re smelling the same fragrance? That cedar that comes through after about four or five hours is wonderful, like walking into a timber yard and perceiving that very natural aroma. Watch out, I’m not saying it’s a wood bomb, but it’s a wood that smells very fresh and natural, and I have several woody fragrances to compare it with. Longevity and trail are medium, but because it’s so refined, it’s worth its price of around $60. At least for me, they’re worth it without a doubt.
My friend’s boyfriend uses it and the first time I smelled it, I was fascinated. I looked for any excuse to get close to that fresh and clean wonder. I tried to test it another day at Sephora with my partner, but it gave no impression at all; yes, it was rich, but nothing special. I suppose it depends on skin type.
I don’t know why LOEWE isn’t commented on more. I think in recent years they’ve made a quality leap. This perfume is liked more the more you use it. The tangerine and cedar dominate the opening and dry-down, respectively, and the rest of the notes complement it very well. Better the more you use it, and since it’s not used much, it makes a difference. Scent: 8.5. Projection and trail: 7.5. Longevity: 8. Versatility: 9.
I tried it in-store and it was my favourite from the Solo family. I was about to buy it until I accidentally knocked over the Platinum bottle; when I picked it up, I wondered why I hadn’t tried that one too. I was fascinated and ended up taking the Platinum, hehe, but if not, I would have gone for the cedar version. Every time I tried it, I found the longevity and projection acceptable, with an interesting and attractive woody scent with a citrus touch (I also like Origami, but this one hits the citrus note just right, not too much). A very rich aroma in my opinion.
If you’re looking for a perfume or want opinions, don’t read this. I only read haters. With this perfume and others, I don’t understand why people get so worked up; it’s as if they’ve been ripped off in life and want to break the brand. Seriously, don’t you have the brain to smell and test it on your skin before buying? Then they come here saying it’s a rip-off, smells old, or like a cheap air freshener. What resentful people; if a branded perfume smells the same to you as a Chinese air freshener, you shouldn’t be giving opinions on a forum because your sense of smell isn’t your gift. Maybe you expected to walk out with your head held high and women falling at your feet, but with the Belmonte face you’re wearing, the perfume won’t work miracles. Then you claim to be sommeliers: ‘the cedar isn’t noticeable’, ‘the musk smells synthetic’. You who are going to smell, HEAD OF A LOQUAT. It’s unbelievable how the internet is, even a product can have haters. What a pity. By the way, this fragrance is spectacular.
I adore this perfume… Of course, it’s not the best in terms of quality, but it smells wonderful and brings back memories of when I started with my partner. The first time I smelled it was shortly after its launch. I lived in Madrid, and a pharmacist from the corner shop, with whom I chatted a lot, gave me a 15ml sample that I kept in the car. It was for emergencies, but gradually it became the perfume I wore to pick up my girlfriend, who lived surrounded by pines and cypresses. I felt very comfortable with it. When the sample ran out, I bought a 100ml bottle with a decanter a week ago at the shopping centre. Smelling it again, nostalgia washed over me. Now I wear it before we leave the house together, not just to pick her up.
I agree with those who say it doesn’t smell much of cedar. When you say ‘solo cedar’, you imagine cedar as the protagonist, not that the other notes govern the essence.
SOFT AND UNCOMPLICATED: Cedar is easy to love or hate. If you’re looking for soft wood, this is your perfume, because old woods tend to be intense. If you expected a pure cedar as if leaning against a tree trunk, you’ll be disappointed. I find the notes very wearable; it smells of cedar without being tedious. The tangerine and pepper give a soft spicy touch at the start, and the lavender balances the wood. It’s for enclosed spaces and cool climates, better during the day than at night. It’s designed for people aged 25 to 35, bringing wood closer to newcomers, though it will disappoint the old guard. Sprays: 5-7. Longevity: 8. Sillage and intensity: moderate.
Solo Cedro Loewe isn’t ‘Solo Cedro’ but a flanker in the Solo line. One must be serious before criticising based on the name, even though the houses don’t help. The Solo line doesn’t suit me, especially Platinum. This is a soft wood, with citrus at the start and pepper afterwards. It’s for those seeking uncomplicated wood, nothing intrusive and politically correct, but without much personality. Whether it’s worth Loewe’s price is another matter. It doesn’t convince me. Au revoir! PS: Lasts 6-8 hours.
There must be an undeclared note, because as it dries, it resembles Encre Noir Sport. Perhaps it lacks that strong opening of ENS, but the finish is identical to Lalique’s.
The least I like is that it smells rather sad. At first, it’s like the classic Solo or Platinum, but it dries down very quickly, almost like Armand Basi’s Wild Forest, yet less foresty and with much shorter longevity. It relies on the same wood and pepper and nutmeg idea, but while Wild Forest gives a deep atmosphere, this smells like arid flatland. It seems to be sitting on a bench far from nature. The quality isn’t bad, but it’s bland. I expected something better than Wild Forest, and this Loewe Cedar tried but did so lazily.
Fantastic fragrance. Opens with woody notes and potent citrus, followed by a very subtle lavender. Projects well and lasts over eight hours. It generates lots of compliments. It’s not very versatile; better for the office with care or formal occasions.
It adds nothing new. It’s a copy of the original, which smells rounder, creamier, and more addictive to me. It’s a good perfume, but these similar flankers just confuse people more.
Starts with tangerine, then moves into woody notes with a sweet, spiced touch of nutmeg that softens it. I absolutely love it and have owned it since 2015. It lasts about five hours, with two hours of moderate projection. It’s versatile and suitable for all seasons.
It smells a bit like F Black by Ferragamo.
In Emilio Valeros’ work for Loewe, SOLO Cedar is one of my great loves in the woody category. The SOLO line created its own genre: Mediterranean spicy woody scents. While others focused on resins and mosses, here they rooted in tender woods and herbs. In a family tree with stately works like Esencia, this more avant-garde and genuine branch grew, where sobriety is a virtue. Perhaps lovers of chunky wood might find it simple: cedar shavings, orange juice and thyme. But it’s also like breathing mountain air or gathering acorns. There is imagination in SOLO Cedar: it captures a pleasant and masculine aromatic landscape, with soft cedar, citrus, lavender, dried herbs, orange peel, nutmeg and refined incense. You can imagine a pheasant hunter taking a siesta in the fresh air. It contrasts with the original by removing the soapy edge, adding a more organic tone to the cedar. It’s a flanker with its own identity and respect for the consumer. My vintage edition is lovely, with a square bottle and a pyrographed cedar base. They didn’t skimp on resources for the class and distinction of the Spanish house. The selection of ingredients confirms a level of excellence that will not return. Always with me.
Very elegant and leaves a mark. The cedar is quite noticeable and I recommend it for the evening; it leaves many compliments.
It combines citrus freshness with the warmth of cedar, creating something distinctive. It’s versatile and lasts 6 to 8 hours on skin. The projection is moderate, not overwhelming but it leaves a trail. The elegance of the cedar makes it ideal for work: discreet but sophisticated. It also suits formal events and winter, enveloping you in a cosy feeling.
A delight. It feels like a super fresh, relaxing and fine wood. It’s a fragrance with a short trail, for personal enjoyment, like most from that era.
It opens with an acidic yet creamy lemon, slightly alcoholic. Then the cedar timidly appears alongside an orangey touch that balances the sweetness. After a few minutes the pepper attacks and the vibrato is noticeable. It evolves a lot, even sounding minty at one point. Quite a journey, perhaps fast, but with considerable quality. At 20-30 minutes it’s a real cedar bomb, a slap of wood and sawdust, the peak. Then it fades; by the fourth hour it’s down to earth, leaving only subtle cedar and lavender. Maybe it causes olfactory fatigue, but I recommend refreshing it midday. For the price, the performance is just right, but it’s a quality aroma, versatile with several turns in the first hour.
I confirm that the drying of the cedar is very pleasant (softened with lavender and nutmeg, not dry as one might expect). To those who label mentioning a sawmill smell as crazy: you’re not alone, it smells good. It’s masculine without falling into smoky or leathery notes, but into natural notes and a subtle ensemble, very much in the Loewe style. Personally I prefer this to the classic, which I find sweeter and more tangerine-like, although I acknowledge that the original lasts longer (always down to earth).
Keeping it brief: it smells mysterious, warm and has quality. What stands out most is the tangerine and cedar. Totally recommended for temperate climates.
Solo Loewe Cedar is woody, aromatic and spicy. The opening recalls the classic with tangerine and spices; it then becomes drier due to the cedar and less sweet. It’s a good fragrance for fans of the Solo line: pleasant, masculine and elegant. On my skin it lasted 8 hours with a regular trail.
The longevity and trail are quite weak, although the scent itself is very rich.
Right, it smells good and lasts a while, but from the very start the wood dominates. Nothing spectacular or bright.
A pity my nose doesn’t perceive so many nuances. At first, it smells like an old man’s perfume (Loewe Solo?), then it disappears and I only smell lemon and wood. Too expensive for what it gives. Delicious smell of roasted chicken, this isn’t.
Exquisite… within this sweet trend. This Solo Cedro is robust, woody and citrusy, subtle yet persistent… for men aged 35 and above. I sprayed it on my forearm at 23:45, 3 sprays. I went to bed and now it’s 07:21 and it’s still here with me at skin level, which is a joy to smell… a 10 out of 10.
I bought it out of curiosity; Loewe isn’t a very mass-market brand and I wasn’t familiar with their style. Initially, I found it super pleasant, delicate, refined and versatile; I feel it for day, night, summer, winter… I struggle to separate the notes, just feeling a pleasant, fairly linear scent from the opening to the dry down. It’s not a bomb; you feel it on the skin all day, better if it lands on clothes. In intimate situations, hugs, you’ll get compliments; they’ll tell you you smell good, a total compliment generator, but up close. Don’t expect this with people two metres away; it’s for proximity. If you think about it, perhaps it wouldn’t work as a projection machine, but as it is, it’s perfect. I should clarify that this is for the new bottle version from LVMH; I don’t feel it the same as any other, nor is it totally woody, nor for a specific age range; it’s a beautiful piece of perfumery, a delightful surprise.
Same style and, in my opinion, practically the same as the Loewe Solo, but with shorter longevity and projection.
A good fragrance, versatile due to its notes which stand out more as the temperature changes, whether cold or hot, without being overwhelming (except for the pepper, which made some people sneeze when I applied it). I’ve received good compliments: ‘smells very good’, ‘smells like a man’. That said, it’s very difficult for me to imagine a woman wearing it. Highly masculine and sophisticated. I have the current version and will definitely buy another when I finish this. 9/10.
Loewe Solo Cedro is, for now, my favourite fragrance. What can I say? Simply, excellent. From the first spray, the combination of rose and pepper creates an elegant and balanced opening, which soon joins that unmistakable cedar… a blend I love every time I wear it. As the hours pass, the lavender comes through, adding serenity and continuity to that woody base that lingers until the end. For me, it’s the perfect perfume for summer at important events or special dinners. It has something magnetic, projects security and calm, and is perceived with sophisticated naturalness. Also, I’ve received several compliments: it’s a scent that attracts without imposing.
A balance of woods: Solo Cedro has something special, conveying calm, elegance and balance from the first moment. It doesn’t seek attention, but rather accompanies you with a very masculine serenity. The protagonist is the cedar, dry, clean and warm, with an amber base and a spicy touch that gives it character. It’s sober and refined, ideal for everyday wear or moments where you want to project confidence without exaggeration. It feels natural, almost like a second skin, making it very easy to wear.
An ultra-masculine and elegant fragrance that gives you presence and confidence. In my case, it lasts over 8 hours, even a couple of days on clothes. It doesn’t flood the room; it’s something intimate that accompanies you faintly but constantly; if someone gets close, they’ll ask what you’re wearing. Women love it. The scent is linear, it doesn’t evolve, and I like that because those sophisticated woods with mandarin and pink pepper remain constant, adding warmth and character. I will definitely buy it again when I finish this.
It’s caught me. It’s a distinctive scent that breaks from the trends and, while not the most original in the world, it suits me. I like it because it’s fresh, simple (not simplistic), wearable yet smells incredible. Very addictive. It reminds me of Tom Ford’s Neroli Portofino because, although they aren’t the same, it’s a very characteristic profile. And that’s despite this one not having neroli. The difference with the regular Solo is basically the cedar, but for me it gives it a more mature personality. That doesn’t mean it’s for people of a certain age. It’s elegant, unpretentious, clean and usable all year round. Perhaps it would even suit a casual date in the heat, though I’d use it for almost everything 🤭
It’s a flanker that recalls the original but tones down the fruitiness in favour of dry cedar, alongside benzoin and mandarin which dominate. It’s serious, mature and refined, ideal for intermediate seasons. The profile is more discreet than striking; the trail is a personal bubble. Lasts around 8 hours, longer on clothes. Top quality; I’d share a shelf with Terre d’Hermès for the same occasions and time of year. The 100ml is online for around €90, slightly more in-store. Loewe prices are stable, so keep an eye out for offers like Valentine’s or Black Friday. Worth it; once you smell it, you’ll want it in your collection.
