Descripción
The Beat for Men by Burberry is an aromatic woody fragrance for men. Launched in 2008, this composition was created by Olivier Polge and Domitille Michalon Bertier. The top notes reveal black pepper, citrus, and violet; the heart unfolds with thyme and geranium; while the base settles on vetiver and woody notes.

I have to give it another sniff, but it seemed quite similar to Burberry Brit to me. What is certainly true is that I liked it quite a bit. Burberry knows how to play very well with woody, citrus, and aromatic notes, and this fragrance, once again, demonstrates that. But I will make a more in-depth review later.
Do not wear this in closed, hot spaces; it will give you a headache. It is for fresh days and outdoors. There are good perfumes, but this one is magical, with a mystery that transports you to another era. It is one of the few that truly deserve that elite category.
Do not try it in a closed, warm, and airless place, because it will give you a headache and make you reject an exceptional perfume. This is just right for a fresh day, in an open place where the air flows. There are regular perfumes, good ones, excellent ones, and then there are magical ones full of mystery that transport the mind. I believe this is one of the few that enters that category reserved for the fragrance elite.
Certainly, it’s quite peculiar: the potent opening with cider and especially pepper makes it special. Then the kitchen herb note, like thyme, accentuates the power of the pepper, which is why it must be used moderately or in ventilated areas. The finish is distinct from current trends: dry with vetiver and woody notes, without falling into the excessive sweetness of patchouli, amber, or musk. Trail is moderate to heavy if overapplied and longevity is clearly over 12 hours. Due to the pepper, it could be more of a winter scent, although the freshness of the cider and the greenness of the thyme and violet make it good for intermediate seasons. It’s more for the day. If you’re looking for something different, not too sweet, modern and bold, this is a good option.
It’s rich, very fresh but cold; I like it for winter, day or night. I used it last year and its longevity is very good, with a very heavy trail. In fact, I don’t know if to vote for ‘enormous’, because my host family complained that it smelled throughout the house and all the time. I suppose they had too fine a nose.
It seems addictive and very different from current trends, perhaps that’s why it causes addiction; it’s not a common aroma, I’d say a modern green. At first, it smells of smoky wood and leathery with cider and a spicy touch of pepper and thyme, which I love. Then it softens and becomes fresh, not citrusy but green. The violet must be the cause of the smoky scent, as other fragrances with violet also give me that impression. It will be a short-term purchase. Regarding longevity and trail, they’ve explained it before. It can be used in enclosed spaces with fewer applications than outdoors. I like it more for the day than for the night. Well done, Burberry!
Addictive and very different from what is currently out there, perhaps that is why it works so well; it smells of modern greenery. At first, it is smoky wood, leather, and cider with a spicy touch of pepper and thyme, which then softens into a fresh green scent, not citrus. The violet adds that smoky nuance. This will be a quick purchase. Longevity and sillage are well known. It works better outdoors than indoors and more during the day than at night. Well done, Burberry!
This is my first review; I’m a novice in this and apologies if I don’t explain myself well. I found it by chance because my brother moved and I had to choose; I wanted something different and found it. Here in Mexico, no one knows it. They sold it to me as a mysterious, attractive incense. To me, it smells of artificial lemon, black pepper, and leather, then violet. The pepper stops stinging and with the vetiver and thyme, it becomes masculine and youthful. It’s a rare blend, formal yet spontaneous. I love the pepper; it’s magical and addictive. It lasts well on my skin; the trail is strong for the first 6 hours, so two sprays are enough. I like it, but I haven’t received compliments (probably due to the temperate climate in the centre). A bride told me it smelled like November incense and didn’t like it. Still, I recommend it: excellent longevity, great trail, but don’t expect much from the woody notes. It’s spiced, spicy, and can be a love-it-or-hate-it affair.
First review and I am a beginner, sorry if I do not explain myself well. I found it by chance when my brother moved and I had to buy something different; here in Mexico, nobody uses it. They sold it to me saying it smells of incense and mystery. On my skin, it is artificial lemon, black pepper, and leather, then violet. The pepper stops stinging and with vetiver and thyme it becomes masculine and youthful, a strange mix of formal and spontaneous. It is magical and addictive, lasts well with a strong sillage for 6 hours, but two sprays are enough to avoid being intrusive. I have not received compliments, perhaps due to the climate; one bride said it smelled of November incense and did not like it. Nevertheless, I recommend it: excellent longevity, great sillage, but do not expect much from the woody notes. It is spicy and peppery, it can be a love-it-or-hate-it fragrance.
I tried it again today and fell in love. It wasn’t love at first sight, but in the end, yes. I’m intrigued by the comparison to Penhaligon’s Blenheim Bouquet; that gives me an idea of its English profile. It’s refined, subtle, modern, and not necessarily youthful, despite the bottle and campaign pushing that angle. I agree 100% with Sir Prieth’s review.
It needs a few chances; it’s a scent that once it catches you, it doesn’t let go. To my taste, it’s overpowering in enclosed spaces but perfect for airy locations, because otherwise, you’re sure to suffocate the people nearby.
Bought it with high hopes, and while it smells nice, I was disappointed to find it almost identical to Azzaro Visit. If it weren’t for that comparison, I’d think differently; swapping the cider or pink pepper for incense would make it an exact clone. The trail and longevity are top-notch, ideal for daytime, not evening.
A unique piece from England. It’s woody and strong, but unique; to date, I haven’t heard anything like it. I loved it for the strength and the notes, although it hurts that it was discontinued. Rating: Very good/4.5/5.
I picked up this 100ml ‘bottle’ yesterday after testing a sample… and what can I say, my definition is: pepper, pepper, pepper; that’s the prevailing scent. I loved it from the first sniff; a fragrance for large or open spaces where you need to make your presence felt. I think it would be intrusive in enclosed spaces as it’s somewhat ‘aggressive’ at the start. Fixation and trail are moderate, leaning heavy. A great success for Burberry in my opinion, rating 8/10.
One of the best from Burberry, fresh and punchy. With incredible performance for the price, undoubtedly a great discovery.
The Beat is one of my favourites from Burberry. It has an opening with sublime cider and pepper. Then the thyme comes out very perceptibly, followed by the woods. It’s an excellent woody scent, with good longevity and trail. I see it as very appropriate for summer and spring, despite many saying it’s spicy due to the pepper. For me, that pepper highlights a cool tone alongside the cider.
What a disjointed perfume… each phase is felt intensely and clearly, so you enjoy the evolution. Opening: pepper gas, strong, barely allowing anything else to be identified. Middle: cider, a more fruity and edible lemon; here the concept makes sense. Dry-down: vetiver, clean and neat, contrasting with the brutality of the pepper and the sweetness of the cider. The concept is strange but modern and pleasant. It has surprised me, especially knowing the disappointing current line. The bottle is worth highlighting; one of my favourites, consistent and pleasant to hold.
A well-original perfume, with a strong thyme note and a liquorish (bourbon) base. A very green scent, wearable at a 7. It has a special balance; while everyone fights for Dior, Polo, Creed, CH, etc., in England Burberry stands out for its sophistication. Just be careful; turn these fragrances inside out.
Spicy yes, but fresh too. I only smell pepper, nothing else. It is not clean or soapy like the Bvlgari ones; it is heavy and reminds me of a freshly sharpened pencil. I see no evolution and it adds nothing. I expected more coming from Olivier Polge.
Spiced yes, but fresh; what’s the point? I only detect pepper, nothing else. But it’s not a fresh, clean or soapy pepper like some of Bvlgari’s. It’s a heavy pepper that reminds me of the smell of a freshly sharpened pencil. I see no evolution and don’t think it adds anything. I expected more from Olivier Polge.
I wouldn’t recommend it; it smells like a chemist’s shop. Of the English ones, I prefer Bentley Intense; that’s the one I like, it smells of an English pub, whisky and pipe tobacco. It’s incredibly potent; two sprays are too much. The Beat is medicinal. I was led astray by the reviews; it’s for autumn, smelling very old school. Only for collectors; for everyday wear or something all-rounder, forget it. I ended up gifting it, and the person who received it didn’t even wear it.

I will give it away and the person receiving it does not like it either.
I’d had this tucked away for ages and it never quite convinced me, even thinking I’d made a mistake buying it… but with the cold came the change. Now it’s my go-to and it suits me perfectly; it smells of alpha male, silverback. Wild pine with a hint of black pepper giving it a brutal projection. It doesn’t evolve; the opening and dry-down are identical, but that’s not bad, it’s magnificent.
My favourite fragrance of all time, little known and difficult to identify. Try it, perhaps it is not for everyone, but once it catches you, you will not want to let it go.
