With more wear, it starts to smell increasingly like Seven Up.
At first, the black pepper note threw me off, but over time I’ve come to love it. It lasts around six hours, which is a bit short for a Montale, but just right for me.
A beautiful fragrance for dipping into niche perfumery: a potent citrus opening with pepper that hits instantly and works brilliantly. It lasts over ten hours, garners compliments, and is very different from the usual. Suitable for any occasion, though it shines best in mild climates and at formal events.
I’m not sure if it’s just my nose, but there’s nothing of ‘intense pepper’ about it. To me, it smells citrusy with floral nuances and a sweet, woody, amber base that makes it creamy. It’s very rich, but not the spicy perfume I was expecting.
The scent is exquisite; the pepper reminds me more of green pepper than rose or black, intense at first alongside a citrus that tastes of orange. The woody base keeps it going for six to eight hours. Best to wait a bit: the pepper softens and becomes more woody and resinous, very nice. I don’t understand why the trail is considered heavy; in my case, it’s noticeable when I bring my wrist close to my nose, but the projection isn’t huge. Despite that, I liked it, perhaps others notice it more. I’ll try wearing more of it.
