  For Christmas, I gifted my 9-year-old niece the Boum by Jeanne Arthes. I was surprised: it’s fun, a vanilla and apple bomb, wintry and cakey. As a safe bet, and seeing she inherits her aunt and uncle’s passion for scents, it was the right call. She turns nine in a few days, so I’m hunting for another from the range (a new flanker that looks like Pink Sugar but more mature and stronger for her). By the way, when I ordered it I took one to use as a body splash, but it’s the same: alcohol + suffocated vanilla, gone in three minutes. Nine quid thrown away.

  I love it! It’s super sweet, genuinely smells like vanilla, and is utterly addictive.
