Ulala, what a find. I’m a whisky fan, especially bourbon, and was looking for something like this for my collection. I was already eyeing Baraonda by Nassomato and Malt by Akro, but this arrived first and what a surprise. It opens with liquor, just like uncorking a Jack Daniels Single Barrel: sweet and spiced. The drydown features woods with a suede-like touch that holds it together. Ideal for cold or mild evenings. Not a beast, but it leaves a trail. A delightful surprise.
Velours Boisé opens sweet and malty, like an amber accord, but then turns dense with resins and liquor; the base patchouli gives it a character that doesn’t suit me. There are better options in this style, such as Baraonda or 1270. Rating: 5/10. Tried from the official Discovery Set.
