I love iris in perfumery! This is a wonder. It has an exquisite and fresh opening, I recommend it highly. It lasts between six and seven hours and is rich, easy to wear.
At first it smells like Bravo Monsieur and as it dries down, like Dior Homme. On my skin it projects well for about two hours, and on fabric up to four or five hours. Recommended, it’s one of my favourites from Zara and the best of the woody line for my taste.
To me, it smells totally like JPG Le Beau Le Parfum; I’ve never heard of Santal 33 or Dior Homme, but yes, this one from JPG and it really seems too similar without the coconut note. It’s a perfume I like very much and the truth is it lasts quite a while on skin (5 to 6 hours) and radiates beyond the arm for about 3 hours. Here in Chile for 18,000 pesos it’s a bargain, I think (20 dollars). Should I recommend it? Totally 🙂
The opening has nothing to do with Bravo Monsieur (the opening of that fragrance is spicy and synthetic); this one, in its opening, is sweet iris and woods, but its iris is not powdery, rather floral, fresh and slightly mentholated. This floral lasts approximately an hour; from there it remains in the fragrance but in a very subtle way. After that hour, the protagonists begin to stay: Palo Santo, Cedar and Cashmere; this phase lasts between one and two hours. The final phase (3 more hours) leaves only Palo Santo and Cedar. Skin longevity: 5 to 6 hours. Clothing longevity: 8 to 9 hours.
I love this fragrance; it reminds me of something but I’m not entirely sure what. What I do know is that it doesn’t resemble Santal 33 nor its wonderful offspring Bravo; I know those well and they don’t remind me of this one.
I wore it for a couple of days and from the very first moment, it reminded me hugely of the new Armani Code Parfum (I only tried it in samples). It’s not identical, but the scent takes me back to that olfactory memory. At Zara, there’s a very prominent iris at the start with a certain freshness that, as it dries down, sweetens gradually without becoming gourmand (perhaps that’s why I associate it with ACP). As for the coffee… more than a note, I’d say an accord. It doesn’t smell of coffee at any point, but as it dries down (especially on clothes), it reminds me of that aroma. In my opinion, it’s a more than satisfactory perfume.
What a wonderful fragrance! The dry-down is simply exquisite.
Delicious! A strange opening scent, like plasticine, on first impression, but the dry-down is amazing; sometimes the coffee wins and sometimes the cedar. It doesn’t resemble Givenchy Réservé Privé or Dior Homme; it’s a unique scent.
Last year I was lucky enough to try Penhaligon’s Blazing Mr Sam, a wonder that made me regain hope of finding unique scents (in a collection of over 100, I reached a point where nothing surprised me). A week ago, passing Zara without any intention of buying, I tried several from the display and came across this exquisite fragrance that immediately reminded me of Blazing Mr Sam (but with a price difference of at least 10 times). I left the shop and had no choice but to return for it, but there wasn’t any new stock (except the tester). Again, with nothing to do, I went to Zara’s website and found it for 199 pesos. I ordered it along with others on discount and despite it not being on my list, I must confess it’s the scent I’ve liked most of all those I’ve tried at Zara. What a good scent; I’m thinking of buying several before they run out.
A rich and affordable perfume. I recommend it.
Wow! What a fragrance. I’ll start by saying I got it on sale during the season change for 10 pesos, but wow. Although I never detected the coffee, it’s a delicious and super versatile perfume; honestly, it’s the best I’ve tried at Zara. The best thing is the longevity, 8 to 9 hours on skin and it still smelled on clothes the next day. The trail is moderate but it holds; I got it from the first batches.
Last year I had the luck of trying Blazing Mr Sam from Penhaligon’s, a wonder that made me recover the hope of finding unique aromas (in a collection of more than a hundred fragrances, I reached a point where nothing surprised me). A week ago, passing by Zara without intention to buy, I tried several from the display and came across this fragrance that immediately reminded me of Blazing Mr Sam (but with a price difference of at least ten times). I left the shop and had no choice but to return, but there wasn’t any new stock (only the tester). With nothing to do, I went to Zara’s website and found it for 199 pesos. I ordered it along with others on discount and, despite it not being on my list, I must confess it is the scent I have liked most of all those I have tried at Zara. Today I tried this perfume at Zara and the first thing it reminded me of was Givenchy’s Gentleman, but after a few minutes I started to recall better and it seemed much more like ‘Siesta’ by Ramón Monegal: the same soft, creamy iris, with those woody notes of cedar (in this case palo santo) and tonka bean.
Not much to say. If you overapply, the olfactory fatigue is brutal. The cedar base is very marked; the image is a closed room with cedar furniture, inevitably bringing back memories, but the coffee is non-existent. I’m still letting the opening macerate; it smells horrible new but improves with time. I’m not surprised; all Zara perfumes are commercial and have little time to macerate when they leave the factory. I don’t prefer it; WO/02 Wood Street seems the best in the line, however, I’ll keep it for next autumn. 2/5; there are better options.
The best of the entire WO line. It smells sweet yet is masculine and mysterious. It has an exquisite dry-down that reminds me of Coca-Cola. Number 01 is a bit too innocent and number 02 is too different. Number 03 is the perfect balance in this line.
I’m not an expert on notes, but I can say it has nothing to do with Givenchy’s Réservé Privé nor Dior Homme Intense. I detect cedar, incense, and amberwood, but no iris or coffee. It’s an interesting scent; I’ve worn it in cold and heat, day and night, and it really doesn’t disappoint. It lasts up to 12 hours on skin. In the heart, it feels very similar to Tommy Impact Spark (perhaps due to the amberwood), but they aren’t the same. Totally recommended; I got it with a 40% discount and paid only 298 pesos.
At first, it’s overwhelming, almost indigestible. Once it settles, notes of iris appear – though not true iris, but rather from the lily – wrapped in woods that, as someone else said, smell like a freshly sharpened pencil. Then it tends to sweeten but always with a woody base. I don’t detect the coffee at all. It’s different and projects well, but it’s for your own enjoyment; you won’t get many compliments. I see it as good for moderate temperatures, like autumn and spring.
I walked into the shop and went absolutely mad. It’s a challenge for a girl, but I’m bold with scents and have already received compliments; I’m sure it’s my skin. On my skin, it smells of pepper which turns sweet in seconds with that cedar and lily root – a delight. Then there’s a sweet wood that lasts throughout the projection, even on clothes where it lingers quite a bit considering the price I paid. If you like those notes, give it a try; it’s worth it. 8 to 10 hours on skin, 3 to 4 hours of projection with a moderate trail. Without a doubt, I would buy it again.
Why judge a perfume at first glance without giving it time? First impressions don’t tell the whole story. At Zara, we apply it to the hand and walk through the shopping centre to see how it evolves. The initial comments are usually ‘I like it’, ‘it’s odd but not bad’ or ‘I don’t like it’. These quick judgments tell us if it’s worth buying. But many times, after visiting all the shops and choosing the candidate bottles, weeks later they end up forgotten in the wardrobe because they don’t fit our routine. Zara shows again that it offers sophisticated perfumes, with a niche air and exclusive touches, as I mentioned in the LTH/01 review. Many people don’t have enough to try these fragrances unless they are collectors or members of communities like Fragrantica. Here, Zara moves away from the Invictus family which already has us saturated. Instead, it presents a blend of woods, powdery iris, Iso E Super, Cedrol, Eugenol and Irone, which from the very first moment evoke the smell of sharpening a pencil or freshly printed paper. Honestly, I don’t feel the coffee smell they mention on Fragrantica; here it’s pure wood over a creamy sandalwood. The iris disappears in fifteen or twenty minutes, giving way to benzaldehydes and a subtle incense. Perhaps it reminds of Santal 33, Brave Mr Sam or Givenchy Reserve Privé, but it doesn’t fit into any olfactory family. It’s not bad, but if you notice, it has a woody and mysterious aura; on clothes it lasts days. On skin, it has a decent longevity of seven or eight hours. It’s a yes for entering exclusivity and for those who like this profile. I leave it in the back for days and then integrate it into my work routine. Scent: 8.5, Longevity: 8, Projection: 7.5, Versatility: 7, Feminine Perception: 8, Price: 10, Total: 8.2.
Incredible perfume for the price. Great longevity and good projection for a few hours. If you apply it to clothes, forget it, it smells for days. On skin, it lasts over eight hours. As for the aroma, it goes down the path of Santal 33, Monsieur le Brave, etc. If you like that type of perfume, this is one of yours.
Incredible value for money. Lasts well and has decent projection for about two hours. If you spray it on clothes, forget about taking it off; it lingers for days. On skin, it lasts around eight hours. The scent reminds me of Santal 33, Bravo Monsieur, and similar fragrances. If you enjoy that style, this is definitely one for you.
Why judge a perfume before giving it time? First impressions are not everything. At Zara, we apply it to our hands and take a walk to see how it evolves. When bringing the hand close to the nose and letting others try it, initial judgments go from ‘I like it’ to ‘it’s horrible’. These first data give an idea, but later, after visiting all the shops, we sometimes buy candidate bottles that end up forgotten in the wardrobe because they do not fit our routine. Zara demonstrates once again that it offers sophisticated perfumes, with an air of niche and exclusivity, as I mentioned in the review of LTH/01 STILL L.E.A.T.H.E.R. Many people cannot afford to try these fragrances unless they are collectors or members of communities such as Fragrantica. This line moves away from the overused Invictus family, with which we are already saturated, and presents us with an aromatic blend of woods and powdery iris, combined with Iso E Super, Cedrol, Eugenol, and Irone, which stand out from the first moment, evoking sharpening a pencil or the smell of freshly printed paper. Honestly, I do not perceive the coffee scent as Fragrantica’s website says (‘an intoxicating fusion…’). Here it is pure wood over a creamy sandalwood; the iris note disappears in 15-20 minutes, giving way to benzaldehydes and a subtle incense. It perhaps recalls Santal 33, Monsieur le Brave, or Givenchy Reserve Privé, but it does not fit into any family. It is not bad, but if it makes itself felt, it has a woody and mysterious aura; on clothes it lasts for days. On skin, it lasts decently for 7-8 hours. It is a yes for entering exclusivity and for those who like this profile. I keep it in the back for days and then integrate it into my work routine. Aroma: 8.5, Longevity: 8, Projection: 7.5, Versatility: 7, Feminine Perception: 8, Price: 10. Total: 8.2.
Unique and at an incredible price. I am not exaggerating: among my more than 20 designer perfumes, I still reach for this one because it smells exquisite, is strong, and lasts forever (very rare for Zara). 10/10. I wish people talked more about the great launch Zara had in 2023.
Unique and at an incredible price. I’m not exaggerating: among the more than twenty designer fragrances I own, I still reach for this one because it smells exquisite, it’s strong and lasts an eternity, very rare for Zara. 10/10, I wish more was said about the great 2023 launch.
Without testing it more, based on the aroma, longevity, and projection, you have no reason to complain: for what you pay, it is a very good product. I love the smell; it is very rich. I sense the coffee at first, but what I like most is the warm, woody base that remains, which is exquisite. Bought recently in summer during the sales, I have had little chance to try it, but on that fresh day it came out, I wore it and enjoyed it. It was a steal and is a very good purchase. In my opinion, this collection is the best from ZARA.
It is a niche perfume with all the characteristics: exclusivity, quality of notes, and good longevity and projection. It seems incredible for the price; it is a very, very good perfume.
Zara’s Santal 33. Although it is similar to Le Labo’s, Zara’s feels fresher and more versatile. It does not have the quality of the niche brand, but this Café Et Cèdre performs spectacularly. It projects quite a bit in the first few hours, lasts normally, and trails sufficiently. It is a clean perfume that I recommend hugely, especially for the price (on offer for $13). 7/10.
A real gem from the perfumery world, Café et Cèdre. Mysterious and fascinating, with a very powdery iris sitting atop aromatic woods. At first, there’s bergamot and perhaps a hint of cardamom (not listed) before yielding to a dusty iris (also unlisted) blended with frankincense and cedar. However, I don’t detect the coffee. It has a niche feel, a complex profile that utterly fascinates me. Sometimes it’s creamy, other times astringent, powdery, woody, mentholated, and even edible, like gingerbread. What a shame it’s no longer available.
A little jewel of perfumery: Café et Cèdre. A mysterious and fascinating fragrance with a very powdery iris over aromatic woods. At first, bergamot is noticeable, perhaps cardamom (not declared), which yield to a powdery iris (also not declared) mixed with incense and cedar. I cannot detect the coffee. It has an air of niche, a complex and difficult-to-classify profile that fascinates me. Sometimes it is creamy, other times astringent, powdery, woody, mentholated, and even edible, like a ginger biscuit. What a pity it is no longer available.
A gift from Zara for €16… if you don’t have it yet, you are taking too long.
Fantastic perfume. An exquisite aroma, high-end perfumery at a laughable price. It is a sweet cedar, ambered, with aromatic and mentholated touches. It lasts and projects immensely. In my opinion, it is the best of Zara, followed by Shamanilla.
Indeed, it is Zara’s jewel. It reminds me of Santal 33, but with a subtle sweetness and a hint of coffee that make it unique. Its trail and longevity are not its strong points: it smells strong at first, but the scent cloud disappears quickly, and after 30 cm it is hardly noticeable. It lasts about four hours, then becomes a skin scent, but given the price and the fragrance, it is totally worth it.
