Cristiano Canali is a perfumer born in Italy who studied Pharmacy before developing a passion for perfumery. After studying at the prestigious ISIPCA school in Versailles, he embarked on a career in perfumery and currently works at Argeville, a leading company in the south of France. Canali’s work consists of understanding customers’ needs and translating them into fragrances in a creative and technical way.

Cristiano is known for his creative approach to perfumery, where he explores synergies and contrasts between ingredients to create new olfactory ideas. His creative drive comes from nature itself, which provides all the answers in minimalist complexity. Sandalwood holds a special place for him among his favourite natural ingredients, as it is his link between pharmacy and perfumery. He likes working with floral notes such as magnolia, cassia, orange blossom, tuberose, jasmine and violet for their complexity and sensuality in the composition, regardless of gender. Cristiano also prefers animal-derived materials such as castoreum, civet, ambergris and beeswax for their unique olfactory profile and warmth, even in small traces.

One of Cristiano’s most famous creations is the Bee fragrance by Zoologist Perfumes, which captures the sweetness and complexity of honey through a blend of honey, beeswax and floral notes. Rubini Fundamental and Nuvolari are two of Cristiano’s most successful fragrances for the brand Rubini. Fundamental is a woody, spiced fragrance that captures the essence of the forest.
