Hoang Nguyen, the owner and perfumer of Chouette Vierge Parfumée, is a self-taught artist whose journey into the world of fragrances began as an impassioned personal project. Initially creating perfumes for his close friends, Nguyen received unanimous praise for his exceptional creations despite his modesty and lack of intention to commercialise his work. His path took a significant turn during a three-year stay in India, where he immersed himself in Tibetan Buddhism. This period of reclusion and esoteric practice heightened his sensitivity to scents and deepened his appreciation for the joy they bring, fostering a profound sense of gratitude that he channels into his craft.
Encouraged by a trusted friend, Nguyen introduced Chouette Vierge Parfumée to a wider audience in early 2024. His unique approach and dedication quickly earned acclaim. His first notable creation, Chouette Vierge Zero, was an experimental blend of contrasting aromatic profiles that captivated his friends and spurred him to explore perfumery further. However, it is Nébuleuse du Papillon that stands as his greatest pride. This fragrance not only marked a milestone in his creative journey, but also served as the foundation for a collection that explores human primal instincts through scent.
Nguyen’s commitment to excellence is unwavering. He insists that each fragrance is a unique masterpiece, with no two bottles being the same. Drawing on his fine arts training and extensive experience in interior design, he personally designs each bottle, ensuring it is as visually striking as the fragrance it contains. The use of top-quality ingredients and the meticulous time invested in both creating the scent and designing the bottle make every product from Chouette Vierge Parfumée a rare and precious work of art.
