“Perfumes, just like photographs, can capture a moment in time”

Certain recognisable scents are like family photographs. A scent and an image are able to take you back in time and space, and both can awaken powerful memories and emotions. In an instant, you are back in your past. I approach perfume creation a little like a photographer, seeking to capture a moment through its lens.

Once I perfectly understand their brand and the perfume brief, I visualise the perfect fragrance for the project. Then I work, reinterpret and adjust my composition to bring my idea to life, just like a photographer, balancing colours and contrasts before revealing their photograph.

But perfumery isn’t only about the past; it’s also, to a great extent, about living in the present. Every day I discover a new aroma, the subtlety of a raw material, or the powerful olfactory result of combining certain ingredients. In recent years, I have focused on the fascinating world of oriental fragrances. Whenever I can, I travel to Dubai and the surrounding region to immerse myself in different cultures and deepen my knowledge of oriental perfumery.

These days, I am particularly drawn to the sensuality of ambergris, the sparkling character of pink pepper and the mysticism of incense. Of course, I will combine these raw materials with others to compose perfumes that make the users of their fragrance feel unparalleled and sensual.
