Perfumer
Kevin Mathys
Kévin grew up in the countryside in France, always passionate about the world of aromas, and he played as a child by mixing colognes, which naturally led him into the world of perfumery. For him, perfume is an emotional trigger that allows him to be part of people's lives when they wear his creations. Inspired by fragrances and, more simply, by the reason why some perfumes attract more than others, Kévin became fascinated by how they are built, and he always had a lot of questions to ask perfumers. Knowing that the fragrance industry was for him, Kévin began training online in raw materials; after studying in Montpellier, he was hired as a trainee perfumer at Bell F&F in Leipzig under the mentorship of Sebastian Reuter – now a perfumer at CPL. Since then, Kévin has started working at CPL Aromas in the Dubai division as a perfumer, and is a major asset for the team.
When speaking about the journey of a fragrance, Kévin commented: “The beginning is the most exciting part of the process; normally I have tons of ideas and I have to choose between all of them. But the nicest thing is finding your perfume on the shop shelves—this is probably the best reward of all”.
Outside of perfumery, Kévin is interested in drawing, nature, swimming and hiking—activities that influence the fragrances he creates, helping to nourish the process and creativity. Kévin especially enjoys working with leather, woods and amber. “A great masculine scent that also works brilliantly in women's fragrances.”
