“A perfume should make you feel something”

When people ask me where I’m from, I tell them that ‘I’m 100% German from my father and 100% Colombian thanks to my mother’. I feel that I have the pragmatism and discipline often associated with Northern Europeans (I studied Industrial Engineering) combined with the friendliness and colourful character attributed to South Americans. And yet, I’m happy working for Eurofragance in Dubai. Over the years, I’ve felt completely fascinated by the cultures and perfumes of the Middle East and Asia. In many ways, I’m a multicultural melting pot, which is clearly a gift and a strength for a perfumer like me.

My favourite olfactory family is that of the Orientals, which I like to combine with the musky and animal-like scent of ambergris. The next time we have the pleasure of meeting in person, let me tell you about the origins of this unlikely raw material and what it can add to your body care product or fine fragrance. It’s a fascinating story that I love to share.
