Simone Lo Bue, a creative perfumer at Moellhausen since 2022, loves art in all its forms. Music, singing, dancing and, above all, theatre are the artistic dimensions that see him passionately committed to expressing a talent that is completed day after day by bringing life to fragrances full of character, reflecting a rich, multi-faceted personality. He inherited his love for beauty and the sparkle of fashion from his grandmother, who designed haute couture clothing, but Simone’s career in perfumery began almost by chance, as a way to fund his chemistry studies and gain financial independence. After just over a year in the industry, his talent was noticed by the LVMH group, which recruited him for its perfumes and make-up division, where he worked with prestigious fashion houses such as GIVENCHY, KENZO, PUCCI and FENDI. The decisive meeting with the world of perfumes took place in 2015, during a course at MOUILLETTES & CO., when he came into direct contact with raw materials and the creation process. This ignited in him a fierce passion and the drive to study tirelessly how raw materials work and transform. After completing that educational path, he joined the training team and the international make-up ArtTeam at GUERLAIN. He then continued studying with leading perfumers until he met Frédéric Malle, who offered him the opportunity to represent Editions de Parfums Frederic Malle as Director of Training for Italy, putting him in contact with noses of worldwide renown. Later, thanks to Estée Lauder Companies, he carried out training roles for niche brands, including JO MALONE LONDON, KILIAN PARIS and EDITIONS DE PARFUMS FREDERIC MALLE, broadening his knowledge of global olfactory preferences. Simone acquired the secrets of composition with Paolo Cerizza and Martino Cerizza, and a key stage in his training journey was his professional relationship with the renowned Italian expert in perfumery Silvio Levi, who introduced him to a wider network of brands and prominent figures in perfumery, as well as to the management of cultural workshops, fairs and masterclasses. His signature style was defined in the world of select perfumery, and he continued studying with Italian and international perfumers, until the influential meeting in 2021 with Dominique Moellhausen and his entry into the Perfumery Academy of the eponymous company, marking a crucial turning point towards realising his dream of becoming a perfumer. Today, Simone Lo Bue creates fragrances that tell stories and paint olfactory pictures, composing raw materials with the delicate and balanced touch of a musician. In his view, “beautifying our planet means perfuming it”, because for Simone – paraphrasing the memorable words of Dostoievski – “good fragrances really have the ability to ‘save the world’.”
