Descripción
Wow! by Joop!, an oriental fougère creation launched in 2017 and designed for men, reveals its essence under the olfactory direction of Christophe Raynaud. The fragrance pyramid unfolds with a vibrant top note of cardamom, violet leaf, and bergamot; a woody and herbaceous heart composed of balsam fir, vetiver, and geranium; and a warm, enveloping base formed by cashmere wood, vanilla, and tonka bean.

This fragrance reminds me of Jacques Bogart Pour Homme in all its phases, alongside Ch Men and Bentley Momentum Intense at the start, but without being as mature as Bogart or as fresh/green as Ch Men, despite having a certain fruity touch even though it barely has fruity notes. You can detect cardamom, tonka bean, and perhaps vanilla, giving it a spiced and slightly sweet character. As it dries down, it recalls Calvin Klein’s Obsession a bit. It also has a sweet cherry touch like Bogart, but less synthetic and dated (though not youthful either). In terms of longevity and projection, it’s above average; it projects slightly after three applications on the neck, lasting nearly 7 hours, even after sport, which surprises me because it didn’t seem so potent when first applied. I don’t see it for warm climates or summer except on cool nights or for going out partying. In autumn and winter, it can do a good job as informal wear or for dates. If you like very fresh and youthful scents, this might not be for you. But if you prefer something sweet and warm with a spiced touch, it could be a good option if you can get it cheap, under £25-30. I’d say it’s for over 27s and possibly unisex. A good perfume, with a bottle I liked (a bit Old School) but it doesn’t have that WOW effect you might expect. Projection: 8, Longevity: 8.5, Scent: 7.5, Value for money: 6.5, Versatility: 6.5, Originality: 7, Sex-appeal: 6.5, Average rating: 7.5
I wanted the fresh version for summer and got this wrong by buying blindly. Fortunately, it seemed okay, although I’m not much of a sweet scent. It’s sweet but curious, soft and creamy, not cloying. I like when the balsamic fir note comes through. I can’t find the violet and the bergamot disappears quickly, but it gives a good opening. A very soft vanilla finish. Calm enough for informal or semi-formal use, from young people to around 50 years old. I’d frame it for autumn, day and night, though useful in fresh springs or mild winters. I don’t see it for summer, but that’s up to each person. Perfectly unisex. I tested it all night: applied at 11, still going at 9 the next morning. Generally well-made, nothing remarkable (and that’s not a bad thing). Would I have bought it if I’d tested it? Probably not, but at the price it wasn’t a disappointment, and I’ll wear it without issue.
I picked up a decant because I was craving it. It’s a blend: lots of Ch Men, a bit of YSL Ultimate, and a touch of Gucci 2 at first. I quite like it. As it dries down, it approaches Ch Men but with more punch. Edit: once dry, it’s exactly Ch Men, just noticeably stronger than the current version. The longevity isn’t the best, but at £19 for 60ml, I think it’s fair. If you miss the old Ch Men, this delivers it; we all know the current one smells the same but vanishes after an hour…
It smells identical to Ch Men with certain notes that distinguish it slightly; I’m not sure which ones, but they make it more wearable and exquisite. Ideal for daily wear, the office, dates, or dinners; suitable from young people to adults. Spring, autumn, winter. Very versatile, day and night, cold and heat. Totally masculine.
Distinctive and rich, with a special charm. The only downside is that they’ve ruined it with those bloody renovations, but it’s not just this one; they’re making every perfume weaker by the day…
Clone of Ch Prive from head to toe.
