I tried it and gifted it, but the person I gave it to found it repulsive. It smells like uncomfortable patchouli or wood mixed with something sweet and smoky; I’m not sure if this is the Black Suede, but it’s a scent that can give you a headache and won’t earn you compliments. I detected a strong woodiness, perhaps something musky.
Testing the line: it reminds me of TOUCH, AXE Musk, and AVON MUSK. What stands out most is the musk. So far, the one I like best from Black Suede is ESSENTIAL, which smells like AXE MIRAGE (both discontinued). INTENSE seems objectively the best, though I haven’t tried them all. I’ve just bought TOUCH.
Another disappointment with the Black Suede flankers from Avon! The fragrance is pleasant and acceptable, with a spicy opening of ginger, pepper, and nutmeg that lingers almost until the end. It has a vanilla base that accompanies without overpowering. The problem is that in Argentina, its longevity is terrible; it fades within an hour. The projection is also poor, typical of Avon, although the original had good staying power. I’m annoyed by the quality difference between the original and the flankers. I’d prefer they were discontinued or sold as aftershaves. At that price, there are others that beat it hands down. The dilemma for Avon: quality or price? Consumers decide.
A sweet fragrance, possibly unisex. If it had better projection, it would be in the Stronger With You… club. The vanilla and nutmeg are very noticeable from the start. Ideal for casual daytime wear, especially on cool days or in winter.
A rich fragrance without many pretensions, slightly sweet for daytime wear. It’s great for autumn and spring. Thanks to its low cost, I reapply it without worry.
