Ahhh… what a pleasant surprise I got when acquiring this magnificent fragrance. From the first application, it captivated me. It’s strong; intense spices are clearly perceptible with a woody touch that fades to leave a very sweet amber (the most delicious phase). Its longevity is average, as is the trail, but if you overapply it can last several hours; on my skin it lasted up to 8. It’s an example of how with just 3 notes a very well-made fragrance is achieved. Congratulations to Avon, you’ve scored a 10.
Ahhh… what a delightful surprise. From the first application, it captivated me. It is strong, with intense spices and a woody touch that fades to leave a very sweet amber, the most delicious phase. The longevity is medium, like almost everything from this house, and the trail too, but if you over-apply, it can last up to eight hours. An example of how three simple notes can achieve something very well done. Congratulations to Avon; you’ve scored a 10.
It’s not just those three notes. It also includes leather and the exquisite Bourbon vetiver from Madagascar. If it weren’t so ephemeral as Avon perfumes tend to be, it would be a work of art, ideal to wear with a suit and tie.
I bought it recently and the truth is I like it a lot for what it’s worth. It’s worth it; I recommend it 100% for night outings or more formal events.
A forum mate recommended this to me, and thanks to him I have it. I would never have paid it any mind because I had a bottle from the ‘Black Suede’ collection that I didn’t like, so I thought they would all be like that. How wrong I was! What a beautiful and modern perfume Avon has released. A marvel of pepper and resinous labdanum that has nothing to envy from expensive perfumes. Hats off to Avon. It’s quite linear and not suitable for pepper detractors, because here it is the protagonist: simply pepper, labdanum, and wood. A sweet, warm, and resinous aroma, super-spiced with earthy and herbaceous nuances. I didn’t expect it like this; it has left me stunned. The scent is almost the same from the start, except for the deep dry-down which is more woody with the sweetness and pepper becoming more subdued. It’s beautiful and my style. The quality for the price isn’t excellent; it’s quite synthetic, although for me that’s not a problem. I’ve read negative comments about this, but for 11€ I don’t know what the gentlemen were thinking. The performance is very good; it lasted 8 hours and is noticeable on the wrist after a shower. It has a notable trail for the first hour and then drops progressively. I expected it to be weaker, but it’s not bad. A fragrance for cold and temperate climates, for evening use, but I wore it this morning and enjoyed it greatly. The price-to-quality ratio is unbeatable. If you like warm and spicy perfumes, you have no excuse. Update: I’ve given it some thought and it sounds like Alfred Dunhill’s Custom, but improved in every aspect, like a steroid-enhanced version. Much more recommended than the Dunhill one.
A colleague from another forum recommended this to me, and thanks to him, I have it today. I was initially hesitant because I already owned a Black Suede from the collection—a classic barbershop scent that I didn’t like, so I assumed the whole line would be similar. What a mistake! Avon has released a modern gem with pepper and resinous labdanum that rivals extremely expensive perfumes. It is linear; it’s all pepper, labdanum, and wood; sweet, warm, and super-spiced, with earthy and herbaceous nuances that make it special. I didn’t expect it to be like this; it has left me speechless. At first, it smells the same, but as it dries down, it becomes more woody with the sweetness and pepper becoming more contained. Yes, it is synthetic and the quality isn’t excellent for the price, as other forums say, but to me, it smells beautiful. The performance is excellent: it lasted over eight hours, and even after a shower, it’s noticeable on the wrist. It has a trail for the first hour, then fades to skin scent. Ideal for cold or temperate climates and evening wear, although I used it this morning and loved it. Unbeatable value for money if you like warm and spiced aromas. Update: It reminded me of Alfred Dunhill’s Custom, but improved in every aspect, like a steroid-enhanced version. Much more recommended than the Dunhill one.
Undoubtedly it has leather and oakwood, which are the most perceptible notes. I didn’t detect labdanum (perhaps the batch). Slightly amber with a touch of pepper. It’s a regular fragrance, with a good scent but nothing memorable. As a cheap option for daily life, it is recommended. It deserves a try. Its price-to-quality ratio is the best; it lasts five hours for seven dollars.
It’s BBB: Good, Beautiful, and Cheap, but squared: Very Good, Very Beautiful, and Very Cheap. Warm and oriental, very delicious. I don’t know if it’s synthetic, but it’s an excellent and versatile fragrance. It serves for daily wear, work, or tuxedo parties. It delivers, performs, and smells rich. It has an aura of class. I know Avon is often looked down upon, but sometimes they pull their ace out of the sleeve. The box says: ‘Captivate your senses with a combination of black pepper, wood, and an exclusive intense accord’. Regarding longevity, I can attest: it lasts all day. I am faithful to the original Black Suede from 1980, but this Intense lasts longer. It accompanies you constantly all day. An excellent budget option for lovers of woody, resinous orientals. It could pass off as a Tom Ford Best Seller.
I saw Darkbeat praising this fragrance and found it online for ten dollars; impossible to resist. It is a bomb for few; not everyone can tolerate this black pepper that appears almost annoyingly after ten minutes. The best part is the dry down: between half an hour and two hours, it stands out, with rough amber, labdanum, and black pepper in equal proportions, mixed with oak wood. It has a rare power in current fragrances. I imagine Charles Bronson putting it on before loading his .45, or John Wayne after dodging arrows, or a Norwegian lumberjack after a hard day. Only hardcore alphas combine with this; an office worker using it would be suspended for suffocating the work environment. After those two hours, the amber dominates until it covers everything else and lasts for hours, only removed with water and soap. In summary: very potent, spicy, rough, and woody, which can be annoying in warm climates or small spaces, but for lovers of these concentrated components, it is a delight. I give it 7/10 for longevity, projection, and price: 11.
I saw Darkbeat praising this fragrance and found it online for $10; impossible to resist. It’s a bomb for a few, not everyone can handle that black pepper which kicks in at 10 minutes, almost becoming annoying. The best part is the dry-down: between half an hour and two hours is when it shines, with amber, labdanum, and black pepper in balance, mixed with oakwood. A rare power in current perfumes. I imagine Charles Bronson wearing it before loading his .45 or John Wayne after dodging arrows. A Norwegian woodsman could also wear it post-shower. Only hardcore alphas combine with this; the office worker who wears it will be fired. After two hours, the amber dominates and lasts for hours, only removable with water and soap. To summarise: potent, spicy, rough, and woody. It borders on annoying in small spaces, but for lovers of these concentrated components, it’s a gem. I give it 7/10 for longevity and projection, and for the price… an 11.
What a delightful fragrance, a luxury surprise. It’s my first perfume from this house and features an exquisite touch of pepper. It’s an amber scent, one of the best I’ve sniffed recently. It conveys a classic yet contemporary personality, suitable for someone with character and class. A flawless creation. Note: Not for twenty-something youths. Scent: 9.0 Longevity: 8.0 Projection: 7.0
What a lovely fragrance, a most welcome surprise. It’s my first perfume from this house, and the aroma genuinely has pepper; exquisite. It is an ambered amber, the best I’ve sniffed lately; it conveys a classic yet contemporary personality, of a characterful, distinguished adult. Very well crafted, full of good taste. Note: Not for twenty-somethings. Scent: 9.0 Longevity: 8.0 Projection: 7.0
A straightforward, spicy amber scent. Ideal for wearing at home; it smells wonderful and lasts 8 to 10 hours without issue. It’s not a powerhouse in projection, but it is noticeable. For the 8-10€ price tag, it’s a shrewd purchase.
Nocturnal and elegant; I would definitely buy it again. For 140 Mexican pesos, it’s an absolute steal. Smells very similar to D&G.
In the opening, it seems very similar to CH Men with three less lines of sweetness… Very ambered and woody. It lasts on clothes until the next day… smells good…
Alcoholic, ambered, sexy… and low cost. Regarding the similarities, it leans towards The One but it is not The One. It has hints of CH Privé, but it is not CH Privé either… it shares whisky, leather and amber with both, which gives it so many similarities… that is how rich it is, as it takes several paths without being the same. The longevity on my skin did not exceed 6 hours, although on fabric it lasts 9 to 12 hours according to the cotton (the 100% ones last days, no joke, try it). Projection is modest and the scent is very easy to wear once dry. Many condemn it only to cold seasons and night, but on a mild night under 30 degrees it can certainly be used, keeping in mind that it does not stand out. It does not go that route, but it does follow the path of being quite pleasing. Wide versatility, given that it is not a ‘Best Mode’ fragrance. Due to its low projection in mild climates there is no risk of overwhelming. In offices or air-conditioned places it does not bother (there is an undeclared musk at the end that some may not like, but I found it very good). It is very masculine, not for under 25s. Conclusion: a good aromatic experience that reminds us that something simple and low cost can also be very pleasant. It teaches us that often we buy blindly due to the hype. Nevertheless, stripping away the hype, I recommend it. For those who like alcoholic and ambered notes (especially seductive ones), this is the ideal perfume at a very low price, and it surely pleases without regrets. 100% recommended. Scent: 8/Quality: 10/Longevity on skin: 6/Longevity on fabric: 10/Projection: 7/Versatility: 7.
“Intoxicated, ambered, sexy… and Low Cost”. Regarding similarities, it leans towards The One but isn’t The One; it also has hints of CH Privé. It shares whisky, leather, and amber with both; it’s so rich it takes several paths without being identical. On my skin, it lasts less than six hours, but on fabric, nine to twelve hours depending on the cotton (the 100% ones last days, no joke, try it). Modest projection and an easy-to-wear scent when dry. Many condemn it solely for cold and night, but on a temperate night under 30°C, it goes quietly, as it doesn’t stand out and is quite pleasant without being intrusive. It’s not ‘Best Mode’, so it doesn’t bother in offices or air-conditioned venues (there is an undeclared musk at the end that I thought was good). It is very masculine, not for under 25s. Conclusion: a good aromatic experience that reminds us that something simple and cheap can be very pleasant, and that sometimes we buy blindly due to hype. Stripping away the hype, I recommend it. For those who like intoxicating and ambered seductive notes, it is ideal at a very low price. 100% recommended. Very similar to Bvlgari Man In Black EDP but five times cheaper, pumba carry on.
Very rich fragrance. I just brushed my wrist against the card and knew it was worth it. It has a soft opening that reminds me of D&G The One, also of Legacy Noir from Avon, and after a couple of hours the pepper evokes Jet Homme, now discontinued at Avon. Anyway, it is the different one that is worth it 100%.
I meant in addition to the Givenchy house. I think that, just like wines, the best perfume is the one you like.
The longevity is undeniable and it delivers on its promises. Apply it at the start of the day: with caution, on the wrist, on the left chest where the heart beats, and behind the ear. It never fails; it highlights the wood and pepper. I have tried the Black Suede Essential (the only one resembling the discontinued Axe Mirage, my favourite fragrance); it is very good, although it doesn’t last long, I use it because it is the only one similar to my favourite. I am currently trying the Black Suede Dark and have no conclusion yet, but so far it delivers. This line has surprised me, with the Puig house being my favourite. As for Givenchy: the best perfume is the one you like.
Nothing surprising: you get what you pay for, very little. It is a warm, somewhat mature aroma, ideal for everyday wear in autumn and winter. It is not bad, but nor is it very good.
It is pleasant, but it lacks character. It shows, but it doesn’t stand out. It could be cloying for an adult man and a bit woody for a younger one. I think it suits men around 30 who like something sweet and are looking for something cheap. The light and bitter notes fade within an hour or two, leaving only a moderate, musky trail close to the skin. It serves for everyday wear if used moderately. Watch out: do not use it in the heat, it becomes heavy and nauseating.
Absolutely nothing to do with it, not even remotely. I bought it based on the reviews and to help a colleague at Avon. At first, it smells sweet and spicy, but within two minutes it turns revolting, like unwashed sweat on clothes after a long day at work. Totally unpleasant. It smells like someone who sprayed perfume on themselves without having changed. I know scent is subjective, but this is rubbish. Do not buy this; you could spend five or ten dollars more on a Perry Ellis or a Nautica and smell decent.
There is nothing pleasant about this. I bought it based on reviews and to cooperate with a lady who sells Avon where I work. The opening has something sweet and spiced, appearing to be good, but after two minutes, it shows its claws and smells like sweaty person, damp clothes, or poorly dried laundry. It is disgusting, a totally unpleasant smell, as if someone who worked sweating all day had sprayed perfume on that clothing. I know scents are subjective and someone might like it, but all I say is that whoever does not know God does not pray to any saint. Do not buy this rubbish; not only will you smell bad, but you will displease others without fault from your poor choice. For that price, you could buy a Nautica or a Perry Ellis that costs five or ten dollars more and smell decent.
The madness has passed and I picked it up at a bargain price, at least here. What strikes me most is that burnt wood base; it’s intense and slightly rough. At 30 degrees it would be a disaster, but in winter it will keep me warm.
