Literally: It’s the Naxos of the 70s, period.

Smells of musk and amber with a floral touch in the middle. Very affordable price, typical of Avon. I recommend it for being mature without being invasive. It’s not youthful; for that, they have other lines like 300 km/h. Cheers.

Vanilla with flowers, smells great. I thought that with the name Wild Country and the boot bottle, it would smell like a rough man, lumberjack beard, but it wasn’t like that.

I have the famous boot version, a gift from a brother to show off on the shelf. I tried it in the 90s as a child; my mother gave it to me as part of the catalogue of the time. As a child, I knew nothing about perfumes, but I loved it and felt great. Today, after 30 years, I say it adds nothing and might result in something horrible for the youth. Meanwhile, I, who used it at its peak, keep an affection for it, even though I know its scent isn’t the best.

I’m 42 and smelled it for the first time at the end of the 90s; I liked it. Many people speak badly of it because it was very popular among grandparents and perhaps it got tired people. The last time I used it was in 2019; I think this bottle is less concentrated than the boot and they are colognes. It doesn’t smell very well, nothing old, it’s a soft floral scent, soft wood that doesn’t bother and vanilla with talc. In fact, today there are many perfumes with the same vanilla and talc DNA. I remember my childhood with elderly people using super strong, green, very woody or herbal perfumes, yes, of the elderly. But this one, despite the years, I see it as youthful for its soft vanilla and talc scent; it’s pleasant. Pity if it doesn’t perform.

It’s not a bad perfume, personally it doesn’t suit my age and pH, what a shame to read so many unpleasant comments based on the brand and price without being objective. It’s a vintage aroma, not very polished, but for a reason it’s been a sales success for so many years. If they gave it to me blind, I could believe it’s something discontinued from Jean Paul Gaultier.

It seems like you’re entering a 90s barber shop, very talcum and I don’t know what else to highlight; it’s not for someone young.

One of the worst outings I’ve tried. You feel like they’re throwing all the notes against the nose, disorganised and scattered, stinging. But after a few minutes it becomes something more or less pleasant, slightly citrusy, with soft floral touches, talcum, slightly sweet and woody. It loses intensity quickly, becoming a skin scent that isn’t bad but isn’t memorable either. It’s hated by many and loved by a group for nostalgia, perhaps because they don’t have anything better or know little about perfumes; still, a classic. Projection of 30 to 40 minutes, duration of 4 hours. Price of 9 to 17 dollars; for that, better things are found. Anyway, to not smell like nothing or bad, better to smell like Wild Country.

An aberration of perfumery, haha, I think it doesn’t even deserve a review.

I remember spending it on my father… I still like its sweet, talcum and woody fragrance. Sometimes it would smell more like a baby than a mature man, it will be due to its talcum part. On skin the duration is very good, easily lasts 12 hours. The projection is good for the first 3 hours, leaving a slight trail of soft sweet talcum. Its use is versatile for cold days, but I like it more for the night at meetings in closed spaces with a cold atmosphere. Of your daily use fragrances, easily projects cleanliness, seriousness and warmth.

I remember buying it for my father… I still like its sweet, talc-like and woody fragrance. Sometimes it used to smell more like a baby than a mature man, perhaps due to that talc-like aspect. On skin, its longevity is very good; it easily lasts 12 hours. It projects well during the first three hours, leaving a faint trail of soft, talc-like sweetness. Its use is versatile for cold days, but I prefer it for nights at gatherings in enclosed spaces with a cool atmosphere. Among your daily-use fragrances, it easily projects cleanliness, seriousness, and warmth.

I’ve heard the bottle is more concentrated than the one in the photo, and that these smell faint and don’t last long. I’ve tried everything: CK Sauvage, Dior Cool Water, Clinique Happy, Dylan Blue, Fierce, Polo Blue, several Carolina Herreras, Ted Lapidus, and others. This is one of my favourites; I think people hate it because it’s cheap and popular, smelling of talc with soft wood and vanilla. I don’t understand why they find it repulsive when women’s perfumes nowadays are pure vanilla; it doesn’t feel masculine to me, it’s classic. What they can’t stand is Brute; this is soft, fresh, has a good trail, and suits everything, winter or summer.

As a child, I used to take it from my dad, hahaha… it was a strong perfume, with an incredible trail that lasted all day. It smells masculine, just like its name. My perception is that Avon made copies of the fashionable perfumes of the time; this would be like the Classic Brute.

Before I had a collection, in my early university years I only had a Mont Blanc Legend and a decanter-style bottle of this, a birthday gift. It’s not an easy or pleasant scent; my ex hated it, saying it smelled bitter (and it’s true, it smells like liquor). I finished that decanter by chance, and someone gifted me a new one (like the one in the photo), but I noticed it had lost potency and no longer smelled so much like liquor. I have half a decanter kept for sentimental reasons regarding the gift, but honestly, I’ll never return to this scent.

Before I had a perfume collection, in my early university years I only had a Mont Blanc Legend and a bottle of this perfume in a liqueur flask that someone gifted me for my birthday. It’s not an easy or pleasant scent; in fact, my ex-girlfriend hated it because, according to her, it smelled bitter (and it is true that it smells like liquor). When I finished that bottle by the twists of fate, a different person gifted me a new one (like in the photo), and I perceived that the aroma had lost potency and that liquor-like sensation was no longer noticeable. I still have half a bottle just to remember the days of old and as a token of affection to whoever gifted it, but honestly and respectfully, I never plan to return to this scent.

It’s not bad at all, although I don’t use it myself; the refreshing cologne is excellent. I apply it after a shower on my body and beard, leaving a rich, lingering aroma. It’s vanilla, musky, and complex, with many notes, in the style of Old Spice but not as overpowering, though it projects more and lasts longer. It’s not a masterpiece, but within the realm of vintage, affordable, classic fougère, a modern ‘macho’ yet unisex scent, the quality-to-price ratio is among the best.
-
Diegos
Not bad at all, although personally I don’t use perfume, but the refreshing cologne is really excellent. When I get out of the shower, I put it on my body and also on my beard, where it leaves a wonderfully rich, embedded scent. It’s a typical vanilla-musk aroma, quite complex with many notes, in the Old Spice style but not as overpowering; it is a bit more intrusive because it projects more and has better performance. It’s not a marvel, but within the realm of vintage, budget-friendly, classic fougère and ‘macho’ scents, it seems unisex. The quality-to-price ratio is the best, by far.

Manila´s Sense
I had it in the classic cowboy boot format. I loved it; I saw it as a blend of lemon, orange blossom, amber, musk, hyssop, basil, sandalwood, patchouli, castoreum, woods, leather, and whisky. Very masculine, it reminds me of a classic I use now, Varon Dandy. The common thing is that smell of memories of grandfathers, studies, and old barbershops. However, Wild Country is by far the most intense.

Gastonhee
What a ugly perfume! I’ve never felt anything like it. I like vintage scents, but I couldn’t stand this one, so I gifted it away after a few days.
-
JavierBrian
I simply don’t understand it; the price is excellent, but I can’t find anything good in its aroma. I sense it’s for people aged 24-30; I don’t know if the scent is hard to understand or if the perfume is bad. I don’t wear it because I dislike it; rarely do I hear anyone wearing it, and it attracts nothing at all (at least to me). I can’t see any occasions for it, not even for staying at home. I wouldn’t recommend buying it blindly at all; it’s a cheap perfume, and the smell becomes invasive. It’s one of those scents that people who know nothing about perfumes buy: informal, intense, and invasive.

LaiMing
This scent has always seemed to me one of the most unpleasant that could exist. As someone commented, it smells of dirt, of grease, covered with a sweet smell mixed with sweat. I don’t recommend it to any age or for any reason, unless you need a repellent. Perhaps if you like it, use it in minimal quantity because it is extremely heavy.
-
marcelfast
I think in terms of aroma, it has something very singular and characteristic; personally, I find it very pleasant and at an excellent price.
-
MFBS
For a cologne, it has very good performance, similar to eau de parfum or toilet water. I consider it unisex; I really enjoy the combination of its sharp and sweet notes, balanced and soft, making it an easy-to-wear cologne and extremely pleasant to the nose.

Uglydreamer92
Last time I tried this classic was in 2012, when Wild Country was already being reformulated and the quality wasn’t what it used to be: the trail was barely noticeable and within two or three hours the scent had vanished. Nevertheless, the aroma remained decent. What I’ve learned is that it should only be applied to the skin; if you put it on clothes, especially white ones, it leaves a nasty yellow stain within minutes. It’s a shame how far it has come from its prime years.

GoldenGabriel
I don’t like it at all, but I know many people use it and love it. Personally, its scent reminds me of when I went to the countryside and felt the urine of cows.

I don’t like it at all. I know many people love it, but to me it smells like cow urine from the countryside.

Oswal Alanis
At first it’s heavy, but within minutes it softens and smells wonderful. I adore it; it’s very affordable and lasts for a few hours. Although I’m young, I think it suits adults better and is a cologne that invites compliments.

Triple H
The spoilt child of my collection. I use it from time to time after more than a decade. It smells of vanilla-talc with a lavender that makes you feel clean. I have the classic version with the cowboy-style bottle. Its projection is scarce and the duration minimal; I use it very little, but I keep it for nostalgia. In terms of quality, it’s below hundreds of fragrances, but the best thing is its price: around $12. Rating: 5.5/10.

Triple H
My favourite pampered girl from the collection. I’ve used it on and off for over ten years. It smells of vanilled talcum powder with lavender, giving a sensation of cleanliness. I have the classic version with the cowboy-style bottle. The projection and longevity are minimal; I use it little out of nostalgia. In terms of quality, it’s below hundreds of other perfumes, but at $12 it’s a bargain. Rating: 5.5/10.

I’ve used expensive colognes up to $100 and I like this one. I’m not a builder, a trailer, or a drunkard; it has a soft, woody scent with spice and citrus notes. I like it for the aroma, not because women like it; many of my friends prefer stronger scents. It’s a $10 cologne, accessible, classic, and without the cloying effect of Old Spice, Brut, Black Rose, or Steel.

I’ve used colognes costing up to $100 and then tried this; I like the scent. I’m not a builder, a trailer, or a drunkard; it has a soft, woody aroma with spice and citrus notes. I use it because I like the scent, not because women like it; many of my friends prefer expensive colognes that smell like demons. This has a soft scent, almost like talc; no one could say it’s not youthful, as tastes are tastes: some like citrus, others the woody or fruity. Besides, it’s a $10 cologne, not cloying like Old Spice, Brute, or Rosa Negra.

I saw the version with the glass bottle shaped like a cowboy boot in an Avón catalogue and didn’t hesitate to order it; it’s beautiful and collectible. The scent harks back to the past, reminding me of ‘The Wonderful Years’. To be honest, I didn’t buy it for the smell but for the bottle, though I don’t dislike it either, especially not for someone like me who is of ranching origin and sometimes dresses up as a cowboy. I’ll wear it to a country bar on Sundays, to the antique market, or for a walk in the countryside, woods, or mountains with my boots and hat. Remembering is living, and what better memories than those of the past.

Dodo
Very rich, talc-like like a classic men’s barbershop and delicate if used in the right amount; highly recommended.
-
Dodo
Very rich, with a talcum powder scent like classic masculine barbershops, yet delicate if used in moderation. Highly recommended.

Evolutico
I disagree with the previous descriptions. The only thing that makes it seem like a macho prototype is the name and the bull on the emblem. The pinkish liquid suggests an undervalued product. Its top notes are clearly fougère, ideal for everyday wear, home, or office, with no pretensions other than feeling clean and smelling of a barbershop, a very repeated concept. Because it’s from Avón and has an accessible price with a generic packaging, I appreciate the refinement and dedication; it ranks alongside Brut and Old Spice, which have lasted for decades. One cannot deny the soft talcum powder scent; the excellent combination of lavender, bergamot, and lime at the start gives way to oakmoss, vanilla, and amber. The musk is subtle; if it were more intense it would be powerful. My opinion: if you can get it, do so; it’s a great best value.

I enjoyed reading Azuriiita’s review; they hit the mark with the concept, aroma, and presentation. I’d add that it’s the ideal scent for a man in a raw state, full of sweat and grease, driving his truck, coming home after hours of travel, having a few beers with friends, passing through a nightclub, arriving home, hitting the sack with his wife, and going to sleep. Apologies if the image is grotesque, but it was the first thing that came to my mind. When I was a child and teenager I used it and it brings me pleasant memories, but I wouldn’t repeat it. It’s a musky, vanilled scent with lavender and woody touches, raw and direct. The trail and longevity in the 80s and 90s were very good, although it was a cologne; I don’t know if it has changed today. It’s more for those over 30, preferably from 35 upwards; it’s not youthful.
-
wilmito
Totally agree with Azuriiita, and I’d add that I love how dirty this fragrance is. It makes me melancholic yet so peaceful and content to smell it.
-
randolph912
Arrived today and I absolutely love how fresh and soft it smells; I’ll be using it daily for casual occasions.
-
azuriiita
Smells very ‘Wild’, but in that aromatic blend I don’t detect any notes other than a heavy synthetic musk. I can imagine it on men who work hard, get dirty, take a quick shower, and head off to have a beer with friends until they drop. It feels like a cliché for a macho-man archetype; if that was the packaging’s intention, bravo Avon!

Diegazo
A classic from Avon that is pleasing at first, especially if you haven’t smelled another fragrance; I wonder how it has survived for so many years. It’s a common scent, nothing extraordinary, the default alternative in all their catalogues. I sensed some lavender and lemon, though I’m not sure. We still have an empty bottle at home that used to belong to my father; needless to say, it’s a fragrance that is hardly youthful.
Category:

I bought it out of nostalgia, remembering my father’s 80s Toro Head bottle he used to play with the children. I recall taking off the cap and inhaling the lingering scent; I don’t know exactly what it smelled like, but it was strong, penetrating and lasted a long time in the bathroom. That’s why I ordered it from Avon, as my only product from the brand. What arrived has nothing to do with it: it’s a classic bottle full of alcohol that smells and tastes of alcohol, until I use it as a disinfectant. My joy turned to a pit; my memory with it is ruined. I don’t know what it smelled like before, but now it smells like nothing.
