I’m not a fan of dupes or inspirations for various reasons: it’s neither fair nor ethical to copy others’ creativity, and quality must be paid for. I stumbled upon this by chance, and by heavens, I prefer it to the original ‘interpretation’ by Tom Ford, the famous Tobacco Vanille. It’s equally winter-appropriate, softer, less persistent and less sharp at first, more versatile with a lighter character, sweeter and easier to wear. Unlike the other, it doesn’t give me a headache, at least with the sample I was given. It perfectly captures that TF signature, achieving 95% of the effect. It doesn’t suffer from being watery or synthetic like many of these. The nuts, tobacco and vanilla are noticeable from the very first moment. These aren’t hazelnuts or walnuts, but rather more like dried apricots or Christmas plums.
