About Te Poupoutanga
Te Poupoutanga: A Soft Amber Floral With Bright Flowers
Introduced in 2026 by O Te Rā, Te Poupoutanga is a unisex oriental floral by perfumers Romain Keller and Pierre Flores. Flowers sit at its centre, framed by spice and a mellow sweet base.
Rather than feeling dense throughout, it opens with a cool freshness before settling into amber, benzoin and tonka. The result is radiant yet cosy.
Top notes bring together peppermint, bergamot, cardamom and pistachio. The mint feels green and brisk, bergamot lends citrus brightness, cardamom adds a dry aromatic edge. Pistachio supplies a rounded, creamy nuttiness that foreshadows the drydown.
The heart features jasmine, tuberose and ylang-ylang. Jasmine and tuberose give a generous white floral bouquet, while ylang-ylang contributes a yellow-floral warmth with a honeyed, sunlit character.
In the base, amber, benzoin, coconut and tonka bean form the foundation. Amber and benzoin provide balsamic warmth, coconut softens with a milky tropical touch, and tonka bean leaves a sweet, vanilla-like veil.
The main accords — amber, white floral, yellow floral, warm spice, sweet — remain legible from start to finish. Freshness at the top lightens the composition, allowing the blossoms to stay prominent over the sweetness.
Evenings and the colder months suit it particularly well, when its enveloping quality comes forward. Worn in the daytime, it is best applied sparingly by those who enjoy rich florals with a comforting trail.
It will appeal to lovers of full white blossoms mellowed by coconut and tonka, and to anyone seeking a warm, unisex floral that is sweet without turning dark.
Te Poupoutanga charms through its progression: brisk spiced opening, opulent floral middle, gentle amber-vanilla base. A well-judged, radiant addition to O Te Rā.
