The Memory of Oud by Maison Alhambra is a woody oriental scent created for women and men alike. A luminous, spiced opening gives way to a richer, more resinous depth.
Its character lies in opposition: sparkling tropical notes set against supple leather, amber and Cambodian oud.
At the outset, passion fruit, peach and bergamot meet davana, cardamom and saffron. The result is fruity and citrus-like with warm spice, lifted by a green, aromatic facet.
The middle brings together leather, rose, yerba mate and caramel. The rose turns rounder beside the toffee-like sweetness, while leather and mate lend a verdant, faintly smoky body.
The base combines amber, Cambodian oud, labdanum, sandalwood, patchouli, musk and vetiver. It feels woody and balsamic with a gentle animalic undertone, softened by a musky, powdery finish.
Taken as a whole, it is warm and multi-layered: first tropical and zesty, then floral and leathered, at last ambery and woody. Made for wearers who favour a pronounced evolution on skin.
