Alone in Babylon: A White Floral Turned Animalic

Alone in Babylon by Stéphane Humbert Lucas 777 is a Floral fragrance for Women and Men. A new launch for 2026, it takes Babylon as its setting — magnificent yet deserted.

From the first spray, tuberose is framed by nail polish, petroleum and plantain. Luscious white petals meet a lacquered chill and a gentle, farinaceous sweetness.

The top is deliberately jarring. Tuberose smells opulent, creamy and almost waxy, sharpened by the synthetic glint of nail polish. Petroleum adds a sombre, smokey vapour, softened by the mellow, doughy sweetness of plantain.

At the heart, castoreum brings a warm, furry animality with a distinct leathery touch. Creamy Mysore sandalwood smooths the edges, while Floralozone preserves a fresh, airy floral clarity amid the richness.

The drydown settles on leather, tonka bean, musk and vanilla. The leather feels burnished rather than harsh, cosseted by tonka and vanilla, with musk leaving a talc-like, powdery trail on the skin.

In character it is leather, tuberose and animalic, with vanilla, white floral, smokey, musky, woody, sweet and powdery nuances. Rather than a luminous bouquet, it is a floral that darkens and clings.

As a unisex creation, it favours neither the feminine tuberose nor the masculine leather-petroleum axis, letting both speak. Best savoured slowly, as the early chemical brightness fades into a favourite warm, sweet depth.

It will suit lovers of full-bodied white florals with leathery animality, those fond of dark vanilla and powdery musk, and devotees of the house's fondness for contrast.

Alone in Babylon imagines Babylon as a nocturnal garden where tuberose, petroleum and leather dissolve into vanilla and musk. Daring yet coherent, it shows the house at its most opulent.
