It’s true the opening is a bit alcoholic, but it fades within a minute, leaving behind a delicious, sweet violet scent without being cloying. I agree with DanE: finding good violets nowadays is difficult. For me, the current queen is Accordo di Viola by L’Erbolario, which is perfect. I also adore 1902, although its longevity is short; on clothes, however, it lasts much longer.
It’s a cologne where the alcohol dominates and it doesn’t last long. But there are things you simply can’t resist: it is the closest thing to the discontinued Violettes de Toulouse, as it comes from the same manufacturer. These sweet, vintage violets stray from today’s vanilla-heavy gourmands. Their ethereal sweetness transports me to my dreams. It’s subjective, of course, but if you’re part of the violet team, share your fragrances, because the note is currently unfashionable.
There is absolutely no hint of alcohol, despite it being the first ingredient. Immediately, you catch shy, soft, and sweet violets. I apply it to my clothes because it doesn’t stain and lasts for days. It smells very similar to Insolence EDP; in fact, in English they say you can layer 1902 first and then Insolence. I confirm with both that either one is enough, although Insolence has more projection. Totally recommended for violet lovers and those who enjoy sweetness.
