Agrigentum by Paglieri is an oriental floral fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2016, this composition was created by Henri Bergia and Eric Fracapane. The top notes unfold with almond, mandarin and lemon (sour lime); the heart reveals violet, ylang-ylang and Italian jasmine; while the base notes complete the structure with praline, tonka bean, patchouli and vanilla.

Agrigentum pays tribute to Agrigento in Sicily, famous for the ruins of ancient Acragas. After some research, the perfumer was inspired by a religious procession he witnessed there, based on traditional Sicilian carriages, carved and colourful, carrying people and figures through the streets. The opening is a citrus explosion of mandarin and Sicilian lemons with a touch of orange blossom. Then comes a very floral heart. It closes with a gourmand dry-down featuring notes of almond, praline, vanilla and blackcurrant. To all this, tonka and a dark, earthy patchouli are added for depth. I imagine marzipan with blackcurrant and apricot jam in the middle of a colourful Sicilian party. It is sweet, soft, seductive, deep, spicy, special and striking. Ideal for the shoulder seasons. Unisex, with a slight lean towards the feminine side. Moderate trail and very good longevity. I loved this Italian perfume and would try more from this house.
