From Ard Al Zaafaran, Akhbar Al Ushaq Rouge is a spiced oriental made for men and women. It keeps its structure deliberately spare, letting warm materials do the work.
The pyramid lists saffron at the top, amber at the heart and grey amber at the base. Spice gives way to resin, then to a drier animal warmth.
There is little decoration around that core, which makes the progression easy to follow.
The opening is all saffron. Warmly spiced and rather dry, it shows a metallic glint alongside a whisper of leather.
Amber takes over in the middle. Fuller and more enveloping, it softens the opening edge and lends a resinous roundness.
Grey amber shapes the drydown. More animalic in feel, it fixes the composition and leaves a lingering warm trail.
