About Al Ghawas
Al Ghawas, a Green Aquatic with a Warming Base
From Ard Al Zaafaran, Al Ghawas is an aromatic aquatic fragrance for women and men. It sets crisp, leafy freshness against a mellow, spiced foundation.
Calabrian bergamot, grapefruit, aquatic notes and fig leaves lead the opening. Violet leaf, papyrus, patchouli and pepper then add a drier, more textured character.
At first it is all brightness and air. Bergamot and grapefruit feel zesty, the aquatic accord feels clean, and fig leaf lends a gentle, sappy greenness.
The heart is where the detail sits. Violet leaves preserve a cool clarity, black pepper adds piquancy, and Egyptian papyrus contributes a papery, faintly woody dryness.
Ambroxan and patchouli lend support beneath. One offers a sleek, mineral glow, the other an earthy steadiness that stops the top notes drifting away.
Towards the drydown, incense, musk, tonka bean and saffron come forward. Incense gives resinous shade, musk smooths, tonka brings a soft, creamy sweetness, and saffron adds its familiar spiced finish.
The balance is between fresh and warm rather than purely marine. Citrus, green, musk and aquatic tones are framed by woods, amber and layered spice.
It will suit those who enjoy shared, fresh fragrances with structure — lively and leafy at the start, calm, ambery and lightly spiced later.
Al Ghawas closes as it began, with poise: an invigorating green-citrus opening resolved into incense, musk, tonka and saffron for a warm yet still fresh trail.
