About Altered States
Gamine’s Altered States: Cosy Spice Wrapped in Woods
From Gamine, Altered States arrived in 2026 for women and men as a creation of Melanie Dir, built around a woody signature with generously spiced warmth and amber colouring.
White flowers and orchard-style fruit appear as facets among fresh spice, aromatic notes, balsam and sweetness, with an earthy inflection lending shape.
A facet of nutmeg with cardamom gives aromatic heat lifted by a cooler, fresher edge. It stays perceptible throughout the wear while leaving room for the remaining materials.
The plum facet offers succulent sweetness, placed in dialogue with truffle in its earthy, mysterious register. That push and pull between ripe fruit and darker soil notes defines the mood.
Sampaguita — sambac jasmine — lends a bright white-floral facet, and Vela del bosquimano, known as Bushman’s Candle, contributes its own green-tinged accent. Each remains part of one shared fabric rather than a separate moment.
Sandalwood of a creamy sort, tonka bean in sweet balsamic vein, and guaiac wood sketch a rounded woody frame. Collectively they underpin the amber glow and the soft, resinous sweetness found in the scent.
It will appeal to wearers drawn to spiced woody scents with a fruity and earthy twist, particularly those fond of sambac jasmine, mellow sandalwood and gentle balsamic tonka.
Within the Gamine catalogue, Altered States feels distinctive: inviting, woody and full of spice, its conversation between plum, truffle and white bloom handled with assurance.
