  I do not like the opening; they compare it to vomit, and what else? It is a tribute to the most expensive vomit, that of the sperm whale, which turns into that floating ambergris. Ten minutes later it is semi-sweet and unique. It smells wonderful. It has a special place in my collection and I feel very fortunate to own it. The bottle is gorgeous and makes it seem more expensive than it is.

  This is one of my favourites. I do not share the view that the opening is unpleasant or smells of vomit; it simply has lots of pink pepper, benzoin, cinnamon and myrrh, nothing ugly. Within minutes it settles, becoming sweet with marine touches and very musky. The cinnamon is always present; it does not smell floral or gourmand, but rather oriental and woody, ideal for unisex. Being masculine and away from cloying trends, it will not appeal to everyone. You need suitable skin and an appreciation for oriental scents to enjoy it. It is not linear; it is complex, with a moderate trail lasting 3 to 6 hours. It has urban elegance for day or night, without being too formal. Quality ingredients, a beautiful bottle that looks niche, and a reasonable price. If you like Samsara, Dune, Truth or the aquatic fragrances of the 90s but want something current and uncommon, give it a try; it could become your signature scent.

  I love the opening; it has that myrrh I was expecting when I bought it. Within minutes, immortelle joins with cinnamon, benzoin, pepper and musk for hours. In the base, there is a woody touch with salty marine notes, I suppose ambergris; it is hard to resist and makes you keep bringing your wrist to your nose again and again. The trail is moderate and I have worn it for seven hours. The bottle is sober and elegant. The marine note reminds me of Dune. Edited: On the first day, with so many tests, it gave me a headache and discomfort. I thought it wasn’t the perfume, but days later it happened again. On the third test, with a layer of alcohol-free cologne from Mejorana, it became pleasant and without issues. I still find the bottle beautiful.

  After letting it mature for a couple of weeks, the initial aggression that gave me a headache and smelled of dish soap has vanished. Now it is sweet, resinous and balsamic. I don’t detect the cinnamon, pepper or immortelle yet, perhaps they will emerge later.
