I bought it blindly for the price: $23 for 3.4 oz. In three words: pepper, pure pepper. It disappointed me a little; by the name, I thought it would be a pepper bomb, but it is not. The opening is the best: an explosion of black and rose peppers with a touch of patchouli that gets lost due to the spiciness. Then it disappears completely, has no trail and does not last. I liked the idea but it lacked something. It is for marinating meats, haha. Sorry Marc Jacobs, your women’s perfumes are better.
Marc Jacobs Bang!! I bought it blindly because I couldn’t resist the price: $23 for a 3.4 oz bottle. In three words: PEPPER, PURE PEPPER. I was slightly disappointed; given the name, I expected a pepper bomb, but it isn’t. The initial touch is the best and only redeemable aspect (aside from the bottle and campaign): an explosion of black and pink peppers, with a hint of patchouli that gets lost in the heat. After that five-minute burst, the scent disappears completely. It has no sillage and doesn’t last at all. I liked the concept of the peppers, but something was missing. In summary, it’s a perfume for marinating meat, haha, PURE PEPPER, PURE PEPPER. My apologies, Marc Jacobs; your forte is women’s fragrances.
I agree with Cookiechuy. The residual note drastically changes the excess of black pepper from the beginning to become a soft, bland scent, barely fresh and easy to wear. If you are looking for something better based on pepper, try Lalique White.
More or less, it didn’t enchant me as I expected.
More or less; it doesn’t enchant me as I had hoped.
It didn’t convince me; I prefer Bang Bang. This smells boring, more for older people. I don’t think it is pure pepper as they say, because I like perfumes with pepper; I think it is the vetiver that gives it that strong adult touch.
I love almost all of Marc Jacobs’ scents since they launched, and I keep buying them because they don’t tire me out. With Bang, the first time I heard it, I didn’t like the pepper note, but once it dried down, I loved it and it is super soft. It profiles beautifully on skin and clothes in a rich way. I have been using it for years and still find it brilliant.
I bought both at a good price: M.J.Bang and BanG BANG. The scent of the silver bottle was the first thing that came to mind: it is a Terre d’Hermès of wood and pepper, really very interesting and rich. It even lasts longer on the skin than the blue Bang Bang bottle. Very good purchase. There may be many comments for or against, but following them 100% would be naive. The important thing is to try it; you will find a great surprise.
There are many hymns to pepper, and Bang is one of them. That does not mean it is for everyone or a must-have. It is a men’s fragrance with a pepper tone, where the rose provides an acidic citrus centre over resins and fresh woods, but in a ‘light’ tone and density. A fresh and gentle vetiver surrounds this composition of low complexity but great beauty. It is for the fullness of adulthood, yet very portable for younger people. It works in any setting, versatile and for all four seasons without issue. Nothing to do with Terre d’Hermès. Its linear structure weighs down the pepper, but it has an ozonic air that creates harmonious auras of clean, vibrant masculine character. Is it worth it? Yes. If you like complexity, there is little here. Sometimes less is more, and Bang delivers. Nothing to do with Terre d’Hermès or Azzaro Visit.
There are many hymns to pepper, and Bang is one of them, but it’s not for everyone nor a mandatory staple. It’s a men’s fragrance with a peppery tone where the rose adds an acidic citrus heart, over diluted resins and fresh woods in a ‘light’ version, wrapped by a gentle vetiver. This simple yet beautiful composition suits the fullness of adulthood perfectly, though it’s highly portable for younger people too. It works anywhere and is versatile, even across all four seasons. Note: nothing like Terre d’Hermès. Its linear structure puts pepper front and centre, yet it has an ozonic air that creates harmonious, crisp, and well-balanced auras. Is it worth it? Yes. If you’re seeking complexity, there’s little here. Sometimes less is more, and Bang delivers. It also has nothing to do with Terre d’Hermès or Azzaro’s Menos Visit.
My favourite fragrance, what a pity it’s no longer in production. They should bring it back.

The metal bottle, which ended up deformed as if it had taken a brutal blow, is very striking. Bang is a fragrance that feels like a moment of genius or something quite crazy that you might not get along with. I have tried many scents and heard that they don’t smell bad, but here the scent is simple and unimaginative; it leaves you feeling cold and you probably won’t consider it a purchase. A fragrance without something unique can forget its aim to be good. Whether you like it or not is another matter to convince yourself to open your wallet. The opening is pure, hard peppercorn. After about 20 minutes, it mellows and gives way to brilliant cedarwood, which combines very well with vetiver. An incense-like vibe with green and earthy nuances from patchouli and moss rounds off the perfume in this phase. It is a good way to achieve simple elegance. Definitely, BANG has that individual quality a fragrance must have to be called so, revealing itself as something modern and unusual but suitable for daily wear with satisfactory performance. The prices on resale websites seem absurd; if you find it between £60 and £70, it could be a good buy; otherwise, you can find something with a similar vibe in the Comme des Garçons line (adding a few sprays of Azzaro Visit).
This perfume requires patience. At first, it smells loud and irritating, but it evolves into something warm and spicy that is very wearable. Upon application, you notice balm and musk reminiscent of rubbing a banana peel on your skin 😂😂😂, after which it resembles Afnan 9pm, sweet and spicy. I think it works best in cool or fresh places, though I don’t think it would be off-putting in the heat. The longevity is top-notch, lasting several hours on the skin with a trail of nearly two metres. I see it as ideal for older people, yet easy to wear. 💯% recommended 🕉️🕉️🕉️
This scent needs time to develop; at first, it smells sharp and irritating, but then it transforms into a warm, spicy fragrance that is very pleasant. Initially, the notes of balm and musk give the impression of smelling a banana peel 🤣🤣🤣. Afterwards, it bears a slight resemblance to Afnan 9pm, sweet and spicy. I believe it suits fresh or cold locations better, though I don’t think it would be off-putting in warm climates. It has excellent longevity, lasting several hours on the skin with a trail of nearly two metres. I see it as very suitable for older people, although it is easy to wear. 100% recommended 🕉️🕉️🕉️
