I love it in the bottle, but once the tonka bean kicks in, it clashes and smells like dog flea treatment. Longevity and trail are top-notch with just two sprays.
I love the scent in the bottle before applying it, but once worn, the tonka bean adds a sweetness that clashes and reminds me of my dog’s dewormer. Still, the longevity and trail are excellent with just two sprays on the neck.
A spice bomb. Smells fresh but heavily peppery. The black pepper really stands out; very masculine.
Smells elegant and soft, like a whisper following you. It’s fresh and warm at the same time, perfect for all day and always earns compliments.
If you want to smell like an Indian restaurant chef, this is your perfume.

The opening is black pepper exactly as the name suggests. It’s positive that it doesn’t deceive. It recalls Paco Rabanne’s Ultraviolet. The dry down brings pepper with cedar and cypress, like a cemetery after rain with a bag of fresh pepper. But it doesn’t last long, becoming soft, sweet and powdery with patchouli and tonka bean. Then rose and incense appear. In the end, it smells soapy. It’s pretty but very ephemeral for its price.
Smells of smoke, embers, wet stone, incense and a matchstick. It’s interesting and enveloping. It’s dark, reminiscent of Encre Noire but different, with that halo of mystery. Dracula or Darth Vader could wear it. Ideal for autumn and winter. I like it, although the catch is the price. If it cost less, it would be a safe buy.

Hello MarcusRS, my complaint is that this house, despite being one of my favourites, has been stuck in a loop with that same oriental-spiced scent for years. For the most ardent fans, this cycle might sound appealing, akin to great metal bands: you like the latest Megadeth or Iron Maiden, but mostly for the nostalgia of their classics. Here, the star is pepper, something the house has been using for decades, followed by a medicinal base that surprises genre lovers and seeks a more sophisticated angle, though it’s a measured exoticism they proposed long ago. Its notably weak strength deserves separate mention; it’s not a flaw as it fits the current ‘niche’ trend, albeit briefly. The best part is that it will presumably connect with enthusiasts who don’t know the house and discover a compendium of their Europeanised orientalism.

I see it more as a cold-weather scent, though given how weak it is, it could be used in heat. Personally, I didn’t like it; pepper isn’t my favourite and it never attracted me. Added to the poor duration and consistency, I can’t give it a good rating. At least, pepper lovers should try it.
It feels similar to other incense-based scents from the house, but here it leans more towards black pepper (especially at the start), while a medicinal note emerges in the base (perhaps Oud?) that takes on a feeling similar to eucalyptus or Vick Vaporub. I’m not sure if this is due to mixing agarwood with pepper or the patchouli dancing in the middle of that incense arrangement.

Blackpepper is that dark, personality-filled fragrance that I adore. Minimalist and avant-garde, it evolves linearly and warms up as it dries. It’s an explosion of black pepper softened by Tonka Bean, with dry woods and a patchouli that traps you like a black hole. A very good blend. Rating: 8
Blackpepper falls into that range of dark, intriguing fragrances that I find so captivating and motivate me to wear due to their tremendous personality. Of minimalist and avant-garde conception, its evolution is almost linear, and as it dries down, it transmits more warmth. It feels like an explosion of black pepper softened and warmed by Tonka Bean. The dry woods transform into the ashes of this nuclear explosion, and the patchouli adds character as if it were a black hole that traps you. A very good blend. Rating: 8
