Perfect Intense by Marc Jacobs is an oriental floral fragrance for women. Launched in 2021, this composition was created by perfumer Domitille Michalon Bertier. In its opening, the scent unfolds a bouquet of narcissus and night jasmine; the heart reveals the sweetness of almond, while the base settles on the warmth of sandalwood.

Smell of smoked/toasted nuts over a floral background with sweetness. The nut note (it says almond but it smells like toasted walnut) is very similar to the initial popcorn note of Pure XS, but without being as sticky or cloying.

  • Separating the notes, I detect the almond, something floral and creaminess that I imagine comes from the sandalwood. Together it conveys a mature fruity sweetness that reminds me of banana, like in the Decadence perfumes (I have Divine Decadence). At times, the popcorn note from Pure XS comes to mind. It is very sweet and I have liked it. It doesn’t convey elegance but jovial informality, with presence and density, not sparkly. It has moderate sillage and lasts more than 10 hours. Compared with the original, there is a resemblance but this is less sweet, greener, fresher and longer-lasting. I don’t like one more than the other; they are for different moments. The Perfect is spring-like, cheerful and clean; the Intense is better in the cold, with more body and less clean. I didn’t buy the Perfect as I already have others for those occasions, headed by Daisy Eau So Fresh. I will enjoy the decants of the Intense but I will stick with Divine Decadence for now. Scent 7.5/10, Longevity 10/10, Sillage 6.5/10, Value 7/10, Packaging 9.5/10. Would I buy again? I didn’t buy it.

  • It opens with creamy, sweet narcissus (I don’t know if the banana in the cap is decoration or real), but I detect banana. After a minute, the toasted almonds and sesame appear, lovely, nothing like the ones in Girl Of Now; they give the sensation of being warm, like opening a street cone, before melting into the relaxing sandalwood as it dries. It is a moderately intense sweet: be careful not to over-spray or you’ll end up smelling of hot almonds for hours. I love it, it evokes Christmas Eve happiness, and I was surprised by the longevity for a Jacobs.

  • For the first hour, I feel the almond accord doesn’t blend with the floral, as if there were a handful of caramelised nuts and salt next to a bunch of narcissus and jasmine. After this hour, I conclude: Perfect Intense is popcorn with flowers, which becomes more almond-y, creamy and even fruity (like pear). I have nothing similar in my collection, I like it but it doesn’t make me love it. Will I keep it? Of course, besides the cap is gorgeous.

  • It is delicious. Literally it smells of banana (there is one in the cap, though it’s not listed in the notes, so I don’t know if it’s real, but it smells like that) with that touch of nuts from the almond and flowers in the background. I tried it in store on recommendation and it was a hit. He says it smells of apple, so it depends on each person’s sense of smell. However it smells, it is fresh, not too cloying and slightly sweet, which I love. I haven’t tried the Perfect, so I can’t compare if the Intense is just a name or more potent.

  • If it is perfect for me, it’s like dropping a coin into a candy machine: out comes a handful, first smelling of banana, then a mix of strawberry, before the notes of creamy almond and sandalwood emerge. It is gourmand to my taste, with floral projection and lasting fixation, ideal for those who want to smell youthful. Daisy So Intense and Decadence are the only ones worth it for their fixation; the other Marc Jacobs scents are pleasant but for me they are just breezes.

  • I needed something for everyday autumn and winter wear, and it was love at first sniff. I can’t handle how rich it is: it has presence but in a fun, informal way, that mix of toasted and creamy almonds with flowers is just killing me. Compared to the regular Perfect, I use them in different seasons and I adore both; they are not comparable.

  • Since I heard it on the tester, I couldn’t stop thinking about it until I bought it. It is absolutely delicious, almond-y and fruity (even though there’s no fruit, it smells like banana). What surprises me most is its versatility: on dry skin it smells like sandalwood, but if I wear passion fruit cream underneath it lasts up to 12 hours, though by the six-hour mark only the incense remains. I mix it with Loewe’s Solo Ella or Zara’s Orchid and it becomes fresh and fruity, my favourite. Worn alone, it is summery at first and spicy/autumnal as it dries down; I’m not sure when to wear it.

  • Starts strong with almond, exactly what I was looking for, but after five minutes it changes radically and on my skin it ends up too fussy. It’s 90% identical to Tommy Hilfiger’s Impact.

  • On my skin, the narcissus stands out, followed by almond. I like it for early autumn. I confess I bought it because of the restockable cap; I am a cat lover and couldn’t resist. It is not visible in the photo, but behind it is a white kitten with cherries that I adore. The perfume is lovely and has decent performance.

  • I was going to buy Perfect at the airport, but Intense exceeded my expectations. It smells of rich, sweet almonds, but the best part is that it reminds me very much of banana. My surprise was huge upon seeing that there is no banana in the notes; surely there is an expert explanation, but I love it (the box and cap feature bananas, so it makes sense). I use it as a daily cologne. I adore it.

  • I adore it, but on my skin it is very different from what I read. If I were to list the notes, I’d put GREEN first, then white floral, then almond, and finally the rest. On me, it is super green and fresh, like a field after rain with a scent of dew. It offers no warmth or autumnal sweetness. On my pH, it is not gourmand, not even remotely. It doesn’t behave as it does on others, but I love it: it is rich and unique. The trail is wide and lasts a minimum of seven or eight hours; on clothes, it lingers for days. Do not buy it blindly; it may not be sweet or autumnal on your skin.

  • Danielle_Gris

I agree with ChocoChan: it is very green and I didn’t like it. It smells like that Vanart herbal shampoo you used to gulp when opening it (veteran Mexicans will understand). I’ll just say that shampoo was cheap. Deep down, after an hour, some shy almonds emerge. It doesn’t resemble This Is Her at all. If I’m looking for something with that scheme, similar performance, and creamier, I stick with Alive by Hugo Boss, which costs half the price. Moderate trail, lasts 8+ hours.

  • Kharynbranchet

Beautiful bottle, but it smells identical to Versace Eros EDP. What’s going on with the creators? Is one copying the other?

  • Cherryblush

I tried it in-store on recommendation. On the first spray, it smelled of banana and the sales assistant laughed, but I was hooked. I left with the sample and the scent-soaked bag confirmed my liking. At home, the banana note recedes to reveal a strong, sweet, floral aroma with almonds that I adore. It only gave me a headache at 40 degrees, so I save it for autumn and winter. It lasts a long time, accompanying you all day, and on clothes, needless to say. Use a little; it is intense.

  • Cherryblush

I tried it in store on the girl’s suggestion. On the first spray, I smelled banana and she laughed; I left with the sample, I couldn’t stop thinking about the scent, it caught me and I liked it, my bag was also soaked in it so I decided to buy it. On my skin it didn’t smell so much of banana, it is a strong and sweet floral and almond scent that ended up making me love it, only that it gave me a headache for using it with nearly 40 degrees; I will use it on fresh autumn and winter days. It lasts a long time, it accompanies you all day and on clothes let alone. Be subtle when applying, as it is, after all, intense.

  • I tried this in-store and found it disconcerting. From the first spray, I detected almonds and sandalwood, very dry and not as creamy as I expected from Perfect Intense. The trail is moderate, longevity is good, but it wasn’t what I was looking for.

  • anamaestracorreo

A delight that made me feel compelled to restock. Perfect balance: sweet without being overpowering, with that unexplainable banana note that simply captivates.

  • DaviniaTolkien

One of the few worth restocking. It is simply beautiful. I rarely make exceptions, but this little one is worth every penny. Smells of crunchy, almost edible almonds bathed in honey. The narcissus and night flower are distinct, while the sandalwood is super creamy. Amika, if you love sweet scents and nuts, what are you waiting for? Buy it. Moderate longevity, around six hours, and for me, reapplying is no problem.

  • Frambuesas

Toasted almonds, freshly roasted. Yum. Elegant. Sophisticated. Perfect Intense transforms the smell of toasted almonds into a very fashionable perfume.

  • DaviniaTolkien

People who say this has a banana touch 🍌 (just like the first Perfect) must have had their olfactory perception affected by COVID, because this has NOTHING to do with that note; it’s just what the marketing and the bottle with its banana decoration (a classic symbol of banana jokes in the circus 🎪) want to associate with the perfume. 🤦🏻♀️

  • A delicious perfume, a blend of banana and almond scents with a floral touch, very well balanced. The aroma is very pleasant and I even like it more than Perfect.

  • It’s the most autumnal perfume I’ve ever smelled… and muuuuy elegant <3. It smells of white flowers with toasted almonds. It's not very sweet, though there might be a hint of banana as mentioned. The longevity is very good; it lasted until the next day. I find it a bit old-fashioned, which is why it doesn't fascinate me, but it's very good for going to work or formal situations!

  • I found it very pretty, but I only perceived the 🍌 note for the first 10-15 minutes; afterwards, it fades and I notice the rest sits very close to the skin. But I liked it.

  • I liked it a lot. It’s now on my wishlist after trying it in a perfumery. Quite a trail, a bit odd on the opening… I only fell in love once it dried down. I sense an artificial banana, like gummy sweets or confectionery. With something fresh yet sweet and elegant. I liked this combination; I just need to get over the weird chemistry between the opening notes and my skin until the banana treat emerges.

  • lorzastyle

Very intense, almost gives a headache if you get too close to smell it, but that banana vibe is cool; it’s almost between chewy sweets and green. I find it very interesting. I still haven’t decided if I love it, but I’m very intrigued.

  • Very, very, very similar to Eros EDP; I bought it blindly for the nutty notes and was hugely disappointed. Edit and correct; upon spraying one on each wrist, the almond in PI is very noticeable. I like it more and more with each wear.

  • MintyBobbins

PERFECT INTENSE, I LOVE IT! Haha, from the very first minute I was enchanted; it filled my heart and nose. At first, you don’t know what to make of this special potion; despite having few notes, it’s super interesting and sensual, cheerful, sophisticated, and striking. It smells of banana and creamy almonds, and within that, wrapped in that banana syrup which softens quickly, are the beautiful little flowers of jasmine that I knew as ‘night scent’, alongside narcissus, delicious white, thick, creamy, sweet… intoxicating and magnificent. A feminine and empowering perfume, but not in the ‘boss lady’ sense, rather in feeling powerful because you smell impressively well and people notice. I’ve been complimented so much; it’s a slightly heavy scent for heat, though I love it so much that the weather doesn’t limit me; I’ve worn it all year; perhaps in extreme heat it’s not ideal for some, but for fresh temperatures, rainy days, or cold, uuuuuufff, it’s a wonder. It lasts more than 6 hours, with decent projection and trail; it lasts days on clothes and you can perceive it from a distance. For me, it’s addictive; I always need to have it, it’s almost my signature. Yes, you do need to try it first 🙂

  • Smells like talcum powder and gives me the creeps, plus it lasts the length of a single breath. I regret buying it blindly.

Perfect Intense is a gem from Marc Jacobs 💛 Upon application, it smells of sweet, toasted almonds with a green touch of rhubarb (undeclared). As it dries, a sweet, ripe narcissus explodes alongside creamy sandalwood and banana (undeclared), creating a super warm and intoxicating aroma, very different from other perfumes. It’s sweet, almond-y, yellow floral, woody and fruity (with that hidden banana note like in the EDP), and slightly green from the rhubarb. Definitely you feel it’s a flanker of the Perfect, it’s about 80% similar, but that 20% gives it its unique charm. It’s sweeter, more almond-y, with the narcissus and woods more pronounced than the EDP. Its performance is incredible: on my skin it lasts about 9 hours (or more, sometimes I smell it the next day). The first hour projects strongly, then moderately, and the last two hours are soft but present. It also leaves a trail as you walk. People compliment me so much and ask for the name. 1000/10, I adore it 💛☀️ Curiously: my mum says it reminds her of the Narcisse EDT by Chloé, so much so that I gifted her a bottle since the other one is discontinued and she loved it

  • Perfumadict

I own the classic Perfect and it’s more similar in the rhubarb, yet distinct because it smells like chewable banana caramel with moisturising cream. The result is rich, not loud or cheap. I liked it but I prefer the classic.

  • The most noticeable notes are narcissus with bitter almond and a touch of sandalwood. They say there’s a hidden banana… I can only just detect it now, a year after buying it and quite well macerated (and it’s not a strong banana, just a hint of sweetness). Marc Jacobs perfumes aren’t usually long-lasting, but this one lasted my whole day (fading to skin scent in the last few hours). It’s super elegant and not intrusive, ideal for enclosed spaces. To me, it feels very autumn/winter. If it’s your favourite, I’d use it alternated with the original for summer/spring. They seem like the perfect duo. Personally, it’s not my favourite and I’m starting to get tired of it, but I have a little left and I plan to enjoy it much <3

  • A quick splash before my shower to remind myself, then the scent lingers on my skin. What endures are the almond and wood notes, but it lacks projection. You can only smell it right up against the skin

  • No sería la primera vez

Delicious. Reminiscent of the classic Perfect but in a league of its own: elegant for evening wear, sweet and creamy without being cloying. The almonds know what they’re doing 💯 Two friends who usually hate sweet scents absolutely adore it; one says it makes her mouth water, imagine that. It lasted through a workday and didn’t bother me at formal events in the heat. I love it 💛
