Black Pearl by Sicili Fragrances is a spiced oriental fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2022, this composition is signed by perfumer Salvador Castellanos. Upon release, the fragrance unfolds a blend of apple, smoke, and cinnamon; at the heart, tobacco, vanilla, and moss give body to the structure; while in the base, licorice, statice, bourbon vanilla, and Iso E Super complete the olfactive pyramid with characteristic depth.

An interesting acquisition: it opens fruity and sweet, jovial and youthful, but soon tobacco and cinnamon take over. It starts playful and settles into something smoky, with that predominant tobacco that isn’t intrusive or unpleasant, perhaps with a very subtle liquor note in the background. I’ve been told I smell good, it draws attention, and fulfils its mission of being noticed in a positive way, receiving no negative comments. It looks informal, party-ready, for clubs or nightlife; I wouldn’t wear it during the day or in heat as I believe it would be suffocating and the tobacco would be too prominent. The performance is excellent; it claims to be an extrait and lasts me over eight hours, with good initial projection and constant bursts over time, even with a wide trail. The price for 60ml was excellent compared to other more expensive brands that offer less; although I got it on promotion, its regular price is quite competitive. Worth exploring this brand, as I ordered decants of other scents and they were striking. By the way, if it bears a 90% resemblance to Kilian’s Smoking Hot, this one smells a touch sweeter. Ratings: Longevity 9, Projection 10, Sillage 9, Value 9, Total 9.

I considered buying this blind based on reviews claiming it’s perfect for parties, but it didn’t quite convince me. The dry-down is peculiar, not in a good way, but rather like a baby smelling of milk: clean and neutral.
