  • I’m not sure how to describe it: it opens citrusy and then moves into something mysterious I’ve never smelled. I’ve read that others don’t smell it or it doesn’t last, but it’s not a loud fragrance nor does it leave a strong trail; on me it lasts at least 10 hours and I can smell it quite well. I understand it’s ideal for dates because it invites people to come closer to smell you better. I don’t have many compliments because I haven’t used it much, but I absolutely love it. I’m not sure what time of year is best: it opens fresh but then changes, I’m not sure if it suits the cold. I’ve loved it because it smells great, has personality, and is unique to me. Also, I think women can wear it too, which is normal these days.

  • Black Tag 2022: I can’t quite say if it’s a dupe for something expensive or has its own identity—if anyone knows, let me know. It’s become my second favourite from Zara (after the Red Edition). I’d define it as a dark citrus, something I’ve never smelled before. It opens with sharp bergamot and grapefruit, with a subtle bitterness, before giving way to soft pepper and vetiver, which justify the name “Black”. As it dries, it keeps that bitter citrus, mysterious middle notes, and a cushioned base thanks to the vanilla and musk. On skin it lasts 6-7 hours and projects about 2 feet. You need to apply more than 5 sprays to achieve this. It works well in any weather except extreme cold, but its ideal season is spring. I see it as easy to use as a signature scent. My only compliments come from my girlfriend, who asked me to wear it every time she first smelled it LOL. Scent: 9/10 Longevity: 6/10 Projection: 3/10 Sillage: 2/10 Versatility: 6/10

  • Face to face, Rosendo wins 5-0 to Zara. While Zara’s is a good perfume, comparing it to Rosendo’s you realise why you pay the £175. In the mano a mano, Rosendo’s is much more intense, with more nuances and quality. Bravo for Zara’s… and with Rosendo’s you have to take off your hat, PERFUMON.

  • I forgot to mention that, compared to the Intense, this is my favourite by a landslide. The Intense clashes with me; if you can manage to buy both on sale, go ahead, but I don’t think the Intense is worth it.

  • The perfume that is on everyone’s lips among YouTube reviewers. The Max Sexy (which it is). The niche perfume for its quality, sophistication, and originality. Here is the great perfume: ROSENDO MATEU n°5, at around £175. And my surprise is that ZARA nails it, at around £10 buying the pack of two, this one and Black Tag Intense (seems like the ugly brother). I’m not surprised that you all like it, hehe, girlfriends and others… THE BOMB. You already have the solution to your question, marsupial. You’ve found a perfume on the crest of the wave… at a bargain price. And I ask myself how Zara manages to make a perfect copy at this price. Why don’t I see a difference in quality at first impression. I have to do a face-to-face between the two. There must be a difference, but I tell you that the impressions are the same. What do you think? It might be the best perfume Zara has ever made. What do you think of the idea?

  • Some time ago Zara released jewels like Tone Indéterminé, For Him 2014, Ambre Noble, Exclusive Oud, or Vibrant Leather. Creations that made you wonder if it was worth spending a lot of money when for 15 euros you were perfumed in proper conditions. Now, between mass production and lack of ideas, it tries to recreate perfumes of another level with doubtful results. Black Tag 2022 gives you a slight idea of how the Rosendo Mateu n°5 smells, but it plays in another league. We seriously dilute the n°5, taking away depth and nuances. We cut projection and longevity and we have served the ‘perfect’ clone. From afar and in the air you perceive it after 10-15 sprays, but if you smell your wrist, the homeopathic in its maximum expression triumphs. Leaving aside incomparable comparisons, if you really are interested in the original there are good offers discounted 30-40% compared to the official website or second-hand. Careful, in itself it’s not bad for the gym, informal outings, or with friends, but if you want to shine, go for the official one.

  • Exactly Jerry, it’s like putting LED lights next to incandescent bulbs. But one must recognise that both illuminate. You shine at different levels with one or the other, but you shine. And as the master Bofifa would say, who by the way has opened a YouTube channel with his name and whom I recommend for his original art, well that: you get 20 chuflos and you keep them all. As Bofifa would say, I summon the GURU of perfumes to enlighten us. Also, it seems he is going to launch his own perfume. We want to know more, we are expectant, Bofifa, we want your secret elixir (but leave the Russians aside or you don’t sell a bottle in all of Europe).

  • As a citrus, it’s not bad at all; it’s a medium level within Zara’s arsenal of jewels, which treasures authentic pearls of low cost like Bergamot and Leather Spritz or Ambre Noble. If it has a vibe similar to the Rosendo Mateu n°5, comparing them is like crashing a Lamborghini Murciélago against a Hyundai Coupé. This 2022 Black Tag is a nice, pleasant citrus to wear, but with a trail that is too intimate for my taste. If you’re looking for something for everyday use in spring/summer, this Black Tag is a hit. It has an opening in the style of Chanel, very soft and delicate. Chanel perfumes have an DNA with citrus, musks, and typical aldehydes (some say it’s due to the alcohol) that this Zara seems to mimic. After a few minutes, when it dries, it recalls the classic 212 by Carolina Herrera quite a bit. It smells very good and is almost impossible to dislike someone, a classic ‘blind buy’, although it can also result in being a bit bland or without personality, mainly due to the lack of staying power or strength. The performance is very fair, staying close to the skin in a few minutes, but it’s worth highlighting that it smells truly pleasant and won’t fail in any occasion you use it.

  • Call me odd, but I see it’s very far from the Rosendo Mateu n°5. For me, this Black Tag, with its citrus and vetiver mix, is very similar to Encre Noir Sport, but softer (and less perceptible). Also a bit sweeter, surely due to the vanilla. As often happens with Zara, it smells rich but has lamentable longevity and projection.

It reminded me a bit of Benetton Black Colors and a touch of Vibrant Leather Intense, but with less projection and slightly fresher (I don’t have more expensive references). I haven’t used it much, but the weak point is the projection, staying in personal bubble mode for those who get close. I love the scent. I would recommend it now that it’s at 60% off: Yes.

  • I could have done with a back-up. I picked it up at the Zara UK sale for £8 and it’s been one of my best purchases. I suppose due to my limited experience with perfumes, this “Black Tag” from Zara might seem easy for the experts, but for my nose it’s the opposite: unusual sophistication for its price. Since I bought it, I’ve used it a lot; it’s ultra-versatile and unlikely to clash. This summer in Spain it was my perfume and it got me plenty of compliments. To me it’s a blend of soft citrus notes like lemon mousse, a spicy kick from black pepper, and a very elegant vanilla and smoky dry down. Without a doubt, when it dries it’s the best: sweet vanilla with the cleanliness of musk and dark, sexy vetiver, addictive for sniffing your own wrist. It doesn’t project much, but I don’t blame it. It’s the perfect personal bubble scent; only those close to you will smell it better 😏 haha. Although it sounds like a joke, it’s highly irresistible 😜. One night, a friend wouldn’t stop saying she wanted to spray it on her pillow. I hope Zara brings it back so I can get a refill.

  • I would have bought a refill. I picked it up at the Zara sale in the UK for £8 and it has been one of my best recent purchases. I suppose due to my limited experience with perfumery, this ‘Black Tag’ might seem simple and unoriginal to experts, but to my nose it is exactly the opposite: an unusual sophistication for its price. Since I got it, I use it a lot because it’s ultra-versatile and hard to clash with. This summer in Spain, it was my holiday scent and one of the ones that received the most compliments. For me, it’s a mix of soft, light citrus, like lemon mousse, with a spiced, peppery touch of black pepper, and an elegant dry-down between vanilla and smoky notes. Without a doubt, when it dries, it’s the best: that balanced mix between the slight sweetness of vanilla, the cleanliness of musk, and a dark, sexy vetiver that gives it that addictive point to smell your wrist again. It doesn’t project much, but I don’t blame it for that. It’s the perfect bubble scent; only those closest to you notice it better. Although it sounds like a joke, it can be highly irresistible. One night I wore it, and a friend wouldn’t stop telling me she wanted to buy it to spray it on her pillow and sleep smelling it. I hope Zara puts it back on sale, because I’d get a refill without hesitation.

  • What a lovely scent. It comes out citrusy and then turns woody and herbal, like a forest. I wish it were stronger. I’m surprised by the longevity, especially on clothes. Although it doesn’t project much, it’s noticeable. It has good sillage. I find it a bit mature at the start, perhaps for those over 30, but then it feels modern and youthful. I don’t know how to explain it. They say it’s similar to Encre Noir Sport, although I haven’t tried it; when I get hold of it, I’ll make comparisons. For now, I like it a lot, preferring it to more expensive and super-hyped perfumes. It’s a shame it’s not easy to get and that Zara left Argentina because of our governments. I would buy it again if I could. It doesn’t resemble the “Intense” version at all, which I don’t like in the least. Instead, I highly recommend this one. Scent: 9/10 Longevity: 8/10 Projection: 4/10 Sillage: 5/10 Value for money: 10/10 Blind buy: 9/10 Season: temperate climates and mid-season.
