Perseus by Maison Alhambra

This fragrance envelops you in oriental, sweet, and fresh notes. It opens with heliotrope, cumin, and bergamot, giving a spiced and fresh introduction. I don’t usually criticise out of dislike, but out of disgust, and this one really jarred me. I wanted to like it, but I don’t. Almond? Vanilla? They are barely noticeable, rarely. From the opening through to the dry down, lavender and sandalwood dominate, with a persistent bergamot in the background. It feels very synthetic and astringent, like air freshener, with a strong metallic tone. It gives a clean scent, but a room-cleaning clean rather than a pristine one. In the Pegasus by PDM, the almond is creamy and the lavender natural; here, nothing like that happens: the top notes command, the almond is bitter and weak. It’s as if they’ve turned the original pyramid upside down. I don’t think everyone will like it. Negative comments or silence. Neither the Pegasus seeks to please everyone; it’s complex. I don’t care about other people’s noses; I even use eighties perfumes, but this doesn’t fit for me like the Perseus. I don’t know when to use it. Performance: it lasts a long time on skin, though projection is low/moderate. Clarification: early 2025 batch. Perhaps I had bad luck with this run. I’d like to know others’ impressions of the SAME batch. Anyway, I’m not usually so harsh, but with this, I have no choice but to bash it so others don’t buy blindly (especially if they’re looking to replace the Pegasus). I’ll let it macerate to see what happens; I’ve paid for it and have to give it a chance, but I doubt it will improve much. Either way, I’ll review it again in a few months.

What a stunner!!!!! I had no idea what the Pegasus smelled like. And I’ll continue not knowing because I don’t have it in stock. But gentlemen, the Perseus is a stunner. From the bottle (following MA’s design for PDM inspirations), with a silver finish that registers fingerprints but still conveys premium character. Yes, it’s an elegant almond decorated with vanilla, resting on a bed of woods that even greets green perfumes like Lalique’s Encre Noir or Bogart’s Silver Scent. On me, it has excellent longevity and potency. I couldn’t verify the projection with certainty, but it remains present in my capsule for over 6 hours with good presence. I perceive it as more masculine. I struggle to imagine it on a woman, but it shouldn’t clash. It’s one of those perfumes I find myself smelling on my arm over and over without realising. Summary: for the price, the quality of the bottle, and the intensity of the fragrance, it’s a 10/10.

I bought it for my partner, but the almond note and that more stately base give the impression of someone over 30. Too masculine for her, so I kept it and I couldn’t be more delighted… it drives me mad. It’s an almond with a vanilla base and in the middle something that gives it a clean touch. The bottle is beautiful and flashy, quite masculine; I’m pleased to see it in my chiffonier. I estimate the longevity is around 6 hours, with projection for over an hour and a bit. We are in autumn in Argentina, with temperatures between 1 and 24 degrees. Excellent perfume.

Honestly, it smells very similar to the PDM Pegasus; for my taste, it’s very strong; I detect the almond a lot. I wouldn’t wear it.

The worst perfume I’ve ever bought in my life, not because it smells bad, but because it’s a woman’s scent one hundred per cent. I would never wear it; I ended up gifting it to my mother, and it suited her perfectly.

Don’t buy it, literally smells like cheap air freshener. A waste of money.

Delightful fragrance, Maison Alhambra doesn’t disappoint at all; it’s a 100% copy of Pegasus by PDM, an exquisite scent that projects and has an incredible trail.

First impression: vanilla and almond. An unpleasant opening at first, typical of Arabic fragrances. After ten minutes, the magic happens: it smells like Pegasus. Ideal for autumn, winter, and cool nights. Creamy, sweet vanilla. Worth it for the $16 I paid. Avoid using it in extreme heat so as not to bother others.

Smells clean, vanilla-rich, intense, almond-y, and very original. I’d say it’s not for extreme heat. Overall, I consider it a good perfume that garners compliments.

I bought it because Pegasus is delicious and its price is very convenient. I compared my Pegasus decant with this: at first it does not resemble it, being more metallic and less refined, but over time it gets very close. It is a clone of Tom and Lomo without the strength or the quality of natural ingredients found in PDM. A great option to try the DNA before buying the original.

Finally found it (they had lowered it before). I knew it without having tried Arabic fragrances. Delicious and special aroma, different from everything I had smelled. Smells fresh and sweet at the same time, creamy vanilla with a metallic almond note. I liked it so much that I went looking for the original (Pegasus PdM). The resemblance is brilliant, I would say 97%. It smells synthetic, but for the price it is a steal. It has spectacular trail and projection. I got both: Pegasus for special occasions and Perseus for everyday wear. I have already finished the first bottle and am waiting for the second.

It does not quite convince me. Based on the notes, I thought it would be different, but the scent is odd. If Pegasus by Parfums de Marly smells like this, it is a waste. It is very feminine.

Excellent fragrance, very pleasant and wearable, except in extreme heat or cold, usable 100%. You can wear it casually, almost informally, perfect with jeans and a bomber jacket, but it also works well with a smart suit, which is why I see it as so versatile. You can detect the almond, vanilla, and citrus especially at the start. I don’t notice the lavender much, but I love the overall blend. Very good longevity for the price. Maison Alhambra makes very good perfumes. The bottle is brilliant, simply amazing. It doesn’t leave you indifferent. Bought almost blindly, easy-to-wear scent, I don’t think it will offend anyone. Scent: 9.5/10, Projection: 7/10, Longevity: 7/10
