  May 1899 in the Paris Opera foyer. Between acts, a group of seven young people gather to flirt. Elegant and coquettish ladies are drawn to the fresh green scent of gardenias pinned to the lapels of men wearing lavender and bergamot colognes. As they draw near, ‘the flower of the opera’ exhales its seductive fragrance, declaring the elegance of a single flower sacrificed as a boutonniere. This potent soliflore with chypre nuances feels natural and realistically crisp, with a sharp green edge devoid of artifice. Although unisex, I find it very masculine due to its drier woody dry-down and the seductive animalic touch of oakmoss, which adds a drier facet and extends the floral note right to the end, fitting perfectly for the 7th House and making the creator produce a charming, enchanting scent. B.7 has character, projects wonderfully for a long time; it’s true that it evolves very slowly, but if you like the scent of this white jasmine gardenia, you will succumb to its charms. Rating: 9.2
