The top notes are bold, though the style isn’t for everyone. The opening is intense, spicy, and dominated by pepper, but as it dries down, it reveals a sweet, delicious suede reminiscent of classics like English Leather, yet of infinitely superior quality. The ingredients feel natural, making it very pleasant to wear despite its sharp, somewhat ‘old-school’ opening. Ultimately, it smells of new, sweet, and spiced suede, with the pepper and sandalwood adding warmth and depth. Highly recommended, although it might scare off those who dislike smelling ‘old-school’.

A great perfume, although with an unusual style. The opening is very penetrating, even spicy, dominated by pepper. But as it dries down, a sweet and delicious suede appears that vaguely recalls classics like English Leather, but with infinitely superior quality. The key is the quality of the ingredients: everything smells natural, making it very pleasant to wear despite its sharp opening and ‘gentleman’ vibe. In the end, the scent is a new, sweet and spicy suede, with the pepper and sandalwood giving great warmth and depth. Highly recommended, although it might scare those who are afraid of ‘smelling like a gentleman’.

I bought it blindly for the iris accord the brand is known for, but it wasn’t what I expected. The opening lasts just five minutes before transforming into pure ecclesiastical incense, which I simply don’t like; I love incense, but smoky, not church-like. After twenty minutes, it becomes identical to Hayat by Xerjoff with that incense on top. If the opening were iris, I’d love it, but it’s nothing like that. Unfortunately, I don’t like it.

Finally! An iris that smells of real Orris butter: acidic, pale and bitter, fleeing that false velvety sweetness of roses and violets. Very well done by Rasquinet. Imagine a Dior Homme Parfum with its entire structure reinvented, but more rugged and dark. That’s Cupid’s Kiss. The detail is that it’s not for everyone; its powdery dryness is very particular, with a spicy, peppery opening. Given its originality, it won’t suit many tastes and don’t expect a love story à la Cupid. The oud is woody and dry, Provenzano style: it doesn’t bother, it’s easily pleasing but doesn’t add much. The suede attempts to add comfort and sweetness to a composition that is distant, complex and very, very interesting. For iris lovers looking for something different: this dry leather wrapped in aged, vegetal, bitter Orris butter, gently sweetened, will be a great addition to your collection.
