Dancing Roses is a delightful brandied rose, something I’ve never experienced in another fragrance, totally unconventional and utterly unique. It opens with an absolute brandy note, and within two minutes, a vibrant red rose emerges, softening that brandy—which, by the way, isn’t just any brandy but one aged in fine, excellent casks. A creamy aura appears, sparkling with hints of incense, which I imagine come from the pepper and saffron, and it stays this way: creamy red roses bathed in a fine, delicate brandy, interwoven with a halo of incense. It begins a theatrical performance where the rose is embraced by the brandy, executing a fabulous dance, firm and strong, at moments almost animalistic, showcasing a beauty rarely perceived. Projection: EXCELLENT 100/100. Longevity: UNMATCHABLE, over 10 hours.
This is truly a gem. Upon application, it’s a cherry liqueur so potent you can almost taste it, reminiscent of the filling in Mon Chéri chocolates. What a shame it’s discontinued; it’s Viktor and Rolf’s finest fragrance. If you’re looking for something similar but with raspberry, try the White Rose by Alix of Atkinsons (another hidden treasure). The scents are nearly identical, with very, very similar notes.
