Smells lovely with a well-defined Damask rose opening (just like the Portrait of a Lady I’m wearing today), featuring a metallic hint of saffron and plum. Some might find it reminiscent of their grandmother’s rose perfumes, but don’t be alarmed. The rose dominates, paired with a soft leather and a patchouli that adds notes of wet cocoa. In the dry-down, you can detect leather, cedar, and vetiver with subtle smoky nuances. It is definitely a rose and plum perfume; if you don’t like roses, this isn’t for you. It’s totally unisex, though not all men feel brave enough to wear it because of that prominent powdery rose.
