Dunescape by Armaf

It’s interesting, as the previous comment says. In my opinion it doesn’t resemble Y EDP. In fact there is a perfume called Ameer al Arab (blue) supposedly a dupe of Y EDT and the opening is almost the same as this Dunescape. On drydown it becomes lighter, I smell a bit “new” like when you buy a new garment and smell it, it’s strange, someone will confirm if it happens to them too. I’m not saying it’s bad, but it smells a bit strange, still it’s rich. I’ll let it oxygenate for a while and come back to update to see if that smell goes away.

At first I didn’t like it at all, but after months I used it again and changed my opinion. It’s a fresh but warm scent at the same time, I wouldn’t use it in extreme heat but yes in rainy season, sunny days, for everyday use. In my case it has a projection of about two hours, it doesn’t have a big sillage so it’s not a very striking perfume, it smells good, it’s a scent in my opinion relaxing but it doesn’t drive me crazy. I only have a decant, maybe I will buy it for daily use. I consider it an 8.5/10 in my collection.

Lasts as long as or longer than the Y EDP. Excellent value for money.

The opening is clearly dominated by blood orange, followed by mandarin. It doesn’t convey the bright freshness of an ordinary orange, but rather a darker, acidic, and slightly bitter character. The ginger adds a spicy nuance which, combined with the citrus, creates an almost fizzy sensation during the first few minutes. This opening came across as intense and somewhat shrill, with a synthetic profile that may not appeal to everyone. However, the fragrance improves as it evolves. The initial aggressiveness softens, and a sharp green apple appears, giving it a more pleasant, balanced character with a hint of modern aftershave lotion. As it develops, it moves into the realm of current fresh, aromatic masculine fragrances, showing a clean, citrusy, slightly fruity, and easy-going profile. The evolution is positive, and the heart is considerably more attractive than the opening minutes. The weakest point for me is performance. On my skin, projection is moderate for around the first hour and total longevity is roughly 4-5 hours, below what I expected. Based on its olfactory profile, I think it is especially suited to spring and summer, working very well as an everyday fragrance or for casual occasions. Overall, I consider it a decent option that clearly improves after the opening. Nevertheless, in this style I still prefer Fakhar Black, both for performance and for a sweeter, more pleasant profile for my taste. Score: 6.5.

It’s delicious, yes, extremely easy to like, bright, very citrusy, divine. But it’s very overhyped, overrated relative to its price; I don’t think it will drop in price as much as Fakhar or Mega, but at its current price it’s expensive; it shouldn’t cost more than $55. As for its performance, the opening fills the room, it feels powerful, but then it drops drastically until it reaches moderate projection and longevity on skin; on clothes, that opening is retained much longer, for several hours.

Dunescape is a fragrance with a modest concept, nothing new or out of the ordinary, but it’s a workhorse for hot or sunny days. It’s not that it feels extremely fresh, because its scent is heavy, especially at first, but it isn’t aggressive at all. In fact, its opening is very good, with concentrated citrus notes. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have the longevity or projection one would hope for. I bought this fragrance blind, practically as soon as it came onto the market. I did so looking for a fragrance that would last a very long time, bearing in mind that it’s an extrait de parfum. It doesn’t last as long as I expected. It’s definitely a fragrance that is easy to like and, for the price, worth it. But what definitely deserves the applause is its great presentation.

I really liked this perfume, basically it’s a dupe of Y EDP but less sweet and with more citrus, it’s an interesting proposal and more usable in strong heat. As for longevity and sillage, it’s average. It lasts me about 5-6 hours, projecting for the first hour and a half. The sillage is at most a metre and a half. Without a doubt it’s worth trying, it’s a famous DNA but reimagined that will make you smell great this spring and summer.
