The first thing I thought when I smelled it was tangerine, and then how much it resembled the ‘Flor de Sol’ edition. Once it dried down after 15 minutes, it reminded me of ‘Rock in Rio’ because the tangerine note faded in intensity and smelled more fruity. It smells like a tropical fruit cocktail and I think it carries mango and almost certainly strawberry or raspberry. I don’t perceive any flowers or anything else apart from fruit.
I liked it quite a bit! On first sniff, the base notes are similar to all of Escada’s summer perfumes, but mainly what I smell most is orange blossom with gummies, haha. Although it’s a very comfortable perfume to wear as it doesn’t have much projection.
I’ve been buying Escada’s summer editions for years; some are better realised than others. This Summer Festival reminds me of previous editions, nothing new. It feels more fruity than floral. I detect grenadine alongside cherry blossom. It’s a pretty perfume for spring and summer, but there are much better previous editions.
I bought it this summer looking for something tropical and juicy. It’s not bad, but nothing special. I liked it at first, but it didn’t win me over. It’s cheerful and carefree, very synthetic, fruity and youthful. A bit too much for my taste. I’m past the age for this type of perfume now, but I must admit that with this cologne I feel older. Every time I wear it, I think I’m no longer the age to wear it. It makes me feel older. But it doesn’t smell bad, does it? It’s an aroma a teenager would love, but I think it clashes with someone over 35. It’s refreshing and fruity; what it most reminds me of is a strawberry ice cream with a floral touch, the Camy Mua-Mua that was sold when I was little and had a lip shape (yes, I’m older than Tana). Since I first smelled it, I always thought it reminded me of something until one day that memory unlocked. And it smells exactly like that: strawberry ice cream with a floral touch.
I absolutely love Escada’s summer perfumes: cheerful, youthful, fun and a change from what I usually wear. Every summer I buy one to share with my daughters; it’s become a ritual. They last almost the whole season thanks to their projection and longevity, and we alternate between them. This year there was no novelty, so we went back to Sortetto Rosso as Summer Festival left us indifferent; it doesn’t hook or enchant, it’s very simple. It smells more of fruit than flower, and although it just says tangerine, it’s like a cocktail of sweet fruits (a bit watery) without really knowing what they are: orange gummy, Tuti Fruti, tangerine, raspberry, strawberry… but all very generic, synthetic, linear and simple. After masterpieces like Sorbetto Rosso or Miami Blossom that raised the bar, it disappointed me; it seems their ideas have run dry, it reminds me of others without a defined personality, it lacks body and both longevity and projection are non-existent. Is it worth it? I don’t think so; it’s overpriced and doesn’t deserve it. I wouldn’t recommend buying it blindly; better to try previous editions that are still available and compare. Let’s hope next summer they release something that fascinates us to make up for these two years.
I tested it in the heat and wow, the floral burst is a real showstopper, no joke. The icy note makes it super fresh. Not quite for evening due to the projection, but during the day it lasts about five hours and really shines. It’s more of a spring scent, but it works for those scorching summer days too.
