Descripción

Gardenia & Cardamom by Banana Republic is a floral fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2019, this composition was created by Mane and Vincent Kuczinski. The top notes unfold the freshness of gardenia and mandarin; the heart reveals a harmony of neroli, cardamom, ylang-ylang, jasmine, magnolia, carnation and rose; while the base notes settle with a warm touch of amber and driftwood.

I loved it; it’s sweet and creamy nardos, with a strong opening and great projection. I see it as versatile for all year round, except for hot summers, except for the evenings. Be careful with the sprays as it can be overwhelming.

  • It’s a very floral and delightful fragrance. Unisex, but more suited to the female gender. It’s like bathing in a mixture of flowers in a bathtub from which you don’t want to get out. Do I like it? Definitely yes; it brings me great joy.

  • This year, to break with my usual habit of buying well-known perfumes, I tried this one I didn’t know, and it seemed very exotic. And indeed, for being a warm scent, it’s not at all invasive or overwhelming; its aroma is more like a summer sunset—warm but soft, bold but not aggressive. Although the trail is less than moderate, it’s ideal for summer use, especially if you’re looking for something original that doesn’t replicate the typical aquatic and citrus scents of the season that no longer surprise. The synergy between cardamom, gardenia, and that subtle spicy wood note makes it a unique perfume, one that doesn’t imitate or rehash anything of the past to trick the nose. It’s so current that I imagine buying it on the streets of New York, because ‘Gardenia & Cardamom’ definitely evokes relaxation and ease, yet with an elegantly delicate cosmopolitan air. Ideal for women who like to innovate and provoke without scaring.

  • I thought it would have a stronger summer scent, like the beach; however, even though it doesn’t, it’s a rather elegant and subtle summer fragrance. It doesn’t offend anyone and is pleasant for the office.

It suits me perfectly for spring and those transitional temperatures, thanks to its floral and creamy touch. Overall, this Banana Republic line reminds me of more expensive and well-known fragrances, as noted on Fragrantica. It’s a white and yellow floral with a medium sweetness that isn’t intrusive or vintage in my opinion. The base gives it weight and substance; I’m sure it’s amber and woods. There’s a slightly ‘beachy’ vibe, I think, due to the Ylang, and those drifting woods (not salty, but definitely not a summery or sunscreen scent; it stays floral). I’d love for it to last longer, but for the price, it’s quite decent, lasting around 4 to 6 hours. It projects strongly at first, but after an hour on my skin, it fades considerably, becoming quite subtle. My perfect use is for those spring days at the office. I found it very affordable in my country, so I’d buy it again.
