Descripción
83 Leather Reserve by Banana Republic is a leather fragrance designed for men and women. Launched in 2017, this olfactory composition was created by perfumer Vincent Kuczinski. Upon opening, the fragrance unfolds with top notes of cypress, lemon, and bergamot; the heart reveals cedar and neroli; while the base settles on a foundation of suede, vetiver, tonka bean, and amber.

To me it seems more woody than leathery. The impression is that the leather leans towards the sweet side of a fine jacket leather, mixed with cedar, vetiver, moss, and tonka. Another beautiful fragrance that has brought me closer to appreciating this brand more.
At first, it smells quite citrusy, reminding me of Commodity’s Moss. It stays this way with a trail close to the skin for a few hours, then a musky note emerges, which I believe comes from the suede. In this phase, it lasts another three hours before the trail drops to almost nothing, then it disappears. I thought it might be a good alternative to Commodity’s Moss for the opening, but no; I prefer Moss, which, despite its lower trail, is stronger than BR’s and lasts much longer. I got it for $33, and while the price isn’t high, it’s not a good option given that near-zero trail.
At first it smells quite citrusy, reminded me of Commodity’s Moss. It stays this way with a skin-level trail for a few hours, then a musky aroma emerges which I believe is the suede. In this stage it lasts another 3 hours and the trail drops almost to zero, nearly imperceptible until it disappears. I thought it was a good option to substitute for Moss at the start, but no, I prefer the original. Although it lasts longer, Moss has a greater trail. I picked it up for $33, a low price, but not worth it for that negligible trail.
Great scent, reasonable price, and moderate longevity. Above all, it transports me back to my childhood when my dad used a classic English Leather. That point won me over. In the end, why use perfume if not to remember? Highly recommended, very easy to wear.
Fifth review of the Banana Republic Icon line, this one is Leather Reserve. The opening is potent and the dry-down is correct; neroli stands out at first, then suede takes over with a touch of vetiver (I think I detect some incense, though it’s not listed). Moderate trail, around six hours, then it clings more to the skin. It’s not invasive or annoying, I’ve checked. Ideal for the office or casual outings in spring or autumn when it’s warm. In Argentina it’s economical and you can find it in pharmacies at a good price. It delivers, it’s pleasant and perfect for the office or informal dates.
If you can, try a decant first. It’s a letdown; smells like floor cleaner.
Try a decant if you can; it smells like floor cleaner.
A 100% masculine fragrance for the urban, free-spirited man, with a potent leather scent and a hint of lemon. Suitable for any occasion and every day of the year. Lasts around six hours on skin with a moderate trail. Ideal to keep as a backup for unexpected moments; it never fails.
100% masculine, for the urban and independent type. Smells of intense leather with a hint of lemon. Suitable for any occasion and all year round. Lasts about 6 hours on skin with moderate trail. Perfect as a reserve for unexpected encounters, never fails.
I rely on this scent because it offers a different leather note from Tom Ford, which is far too common. This is herbal leather, not green, perfect for temperate climates. Banana Water always delivers excellent options (indeed, it’s one of the best price-to-quality ratios, at least around here, and cheaper than some Zara finds outside of sales…). It’s not for the masses; it’s for those who appreciate floral, herbal, and woody leather with vetiver; these nuances combine to create something truly atypical and unique. It’s sharp yet pleasant, hard to find in other commercial perfumes. I’m still testing its performance, though the initial projection is good for the price. It’s versatile and masculine, nothing for teenagers. Don’t buy it blindly; try decants first, that’s the smartest move. On my skin, it lasts under six hours with moderate projection, so you need to apply more.
I stand by it: it’s herbal leather, not green, very different from Tom Ford, ideal for temperate climates. Banana remains a gem in terms of value for money, even cheaper than Zara when on offer. It’s not for the masses, but for those seeking that unique mix of leather, floral, herbal, and vetiver. It’s sharp and hard to find commercially. Initial projection is good for the price; it’s versatile and masculine, nothing teenage. Don’t buy blindly, try with decants. On my skin it lasts under 6 hours with moderate projection, so you need to apply more.
